Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Nov. 30, answered a call to Fletcher Road of Graham in reference to illegal dumping. The complainant found household garbage in his cotton field. In the garbage, mail was found identifying the subject from Jeff Davis County. The subject was contacted and was notified to clean up the trash or receive a citation.
Nov. 30, answered a call to Beatrice Lane in reference to a theft. The complainant stated her husband took her cell phone and two pair of shoes to trade or sell for drugs. Investigation continues.
Nov. 30, answered a call to Dyal School Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident. Cecil Kevin Godwin, 35, of Alma, was arrested and charged with driving while license withdrawn and leaving the scene of an accident.
Dec. 1, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Georgia State Patrol answered a call to Ga. Highway 4 in reference to a vehicle and a four-wheeler accident. The juvenile driving the four-wheeler was checked by the Appling EMS and was released.
Dec. 1, answered a call to Kennedy Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had a dispute. The husband agreed to leave the residence to avoid further problems.
Dec. 2, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft on Essie Nail Drive. The complainant stated stolen from her residence was a two-piece gold wedding ring set, valued at $3,500.00. Investigation continues.
Dec. 2, answered a call to Pecan Street/Surrency in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he realized his lap top computer was missing from his residence after his friend had left his residence. Investigation revealed his friend had taken the computer and sold it. The computer was located and returned to the complainant. The complainant stated he did not want to press charges.
Dec. 2, a complainant came to Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a forgery. The complainant stated that he gave a subject two checks for labor. The amount on the checks were altered and cashed. The case is still under investigation with warrants pending.
Dec. 3, answered a call to Landing Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated the person that was living with her moved out taking her guns, trailer, TV, luggage, money from a checking account, social security card, birth certificate and passport. Investigation continues.
Dec. 3, answered a call to K’Ville Highway of Odum in reference to harassment. A complainant stated an unwanted subject had come to her residence after being told not to return. The subject was not at the residence at the time the officer arrived.
Dec. 4, answered a call to Phillipi Church Road in reference to a subject walking in roadway. The subject stated he had overdosed on drugs and had been smoking meth. The Appling EMS responded and took the subject to Appling ER for treatment.
Dec. 4, answered a call to Cleland Lane in reference to a civil dispute. Landlord blocked a vehicle of renter with a tractor in front of the vehicle, and a dump truck at the back of the vehicle located at the residence. The renter stated his vehicle had been scratched. Both parties were advised to contact magistrate court if matter was to be pursued.
Dec. 4, answered a call to Highway 341, which resulted in the arrest of Jeffery K. Stotridge, 46, of Brunswick. Stotridge was charged with DUI, driving while license withdrawn, and theft of a motor vehicle.
Dec. 5, answered a call to Sandy Road in reference to a dog case. The complainant stated her dog had to be taken to the vet after her neighbor’s dog had hurt her dog.
Dec. 5, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a forgery. The complainant stated that subject forged and cashed a check on his account without his consent. Investigation continues.
Dec. 12, answered a call to Kennedy Road in reference to cruelty to animals. The complainant stated he found his horse in the woods where it had been shot in the neck by an unknown person.
Dec. 6, answered a call to John Lewis Lane in reference to animal problem. The complainant stated her neighbor’s dog came to her yard and killed one of her chickens. Officer attempted to contact the neighbor, but no one was home.
Dec. 7, answered a call to Old Surrency Road in reference to a domestic, which led to the arrest of Marcus William Beasley, 27, of Surrency. Beasley has warrants pending at this time.
Dec. 8, answered a call to Courson Road in reference to a dog case. The complainant stated his neighbor’s pit-bull dog came to his yard and killed his dog.
