Sheriff Deloach reports arrests
Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Mar. 24, answered a call to Knight Sawmill Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown stole a 3/8 Black and Decker Drill, four black Machettes, two Stanley tape measures, two pairs of tin snips, and one Stanley utility knife.
Mar. 25, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to a dog. A complainant stated that person(s) unknown had shot her dog.
Mar. 25, answered a call to County Farm Road in reference to an aggravated assault incident. A complainant stated known offender had been shooting at his vehicle. Michael Casey Tomberlin, age 37, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
Mar. 25, answered a call to May Lane in reference to a neighbor’s goats coming into her yard eating her roses. The deputy spoke with the neighbors about keeping the goats pinned up.
Mar. 25, answered a call to Craven Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated person(s) unknown damaged a wooden fence in front of her residence.
Mar. 26, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to an aggressive dog. A complainant stated that her neighbor’s dog attacked her dog while they were out walking. The complainant was advised of her legal rights.
Mar. 26, answered a call to Pebble Lane in reference to a domestic. A complainant stated her and her ex-husband got into an argument and it then became abusive. The complainant stated he left after that and had not returned. The complainant was advised to see Magistrate.
Mar. 26, answered a call to Lawanna Street in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown stole one push lawnmower from her yard.
Mar. 26, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a dispute. A complainant stated the known offender came to her residence and was drunk and cussing at her. The complainant was advised to see Magistrate.
Mar. 26, answered a call to Spring Branch Church Road in reference to attempted suicide. A complainant stated the offender had been drinking and was threatening to kill himself. Richard Therell Hobby, age 45, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Mar. 26, answered a call to VP Lynch Road in reference to a domestic. A complainant stated that the offender had hit her in the face several times. The complainant was advised to see Magistrate.
Mar. 26, answered a call to Piney Bluff Road in reference to a domestic. A complainant stated known offender became irate and abusive. The complainant was advised to speak with magistrate.
Mar. 26, answered a call to Cross Road in reference to a vehicle fire. A complainant stated she went outside to crank up their truck, went back into the house and when she returned the truck was on fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Mar. 27, answered a call to Miles Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown had stolen his dog. Investigation continues.
Mar. 27, answered a call to Jekyll Road in reference to damage to property. Complainant stated person(s) unknown come onto his property and busted out the windshield of his vehicle.
Mar. 27, answered a call to Highway 144 in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated person(s) unknown kicked in the side of his vehicle doing damage. The vehicle sustained extensive damage in several areas.
Mar. 27, answered a call to Janis Street in reference to vandalism. A complainant stated person(s) unknown had spray-painted the letters G.D. on her residence. A total of three residences were spray-painted.
Mar. 27, answered a call to Berry Drive in reference to a dispute. A complainant stated he and the offender began to argue. The complainant and the offender then left the residence. Later deputies were dispatched back to the residence listed above and Marcus Contraes was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Mar. 28, answered a call to Rayonier in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown stole 14 rolls of 1 1/4' steel banding material. Investigation continues.
Mar. 28, answered a call to Cooper Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown came to the residence listed above and stole 4,000 pounds of copper wire that was stored on a 5 X 11 trailer. Investigation continues.
Mar. 28, answered a call to Altamaha School Road in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated the offender keeps calling and cussing her out. The complainant was advised to see Magistrate Court.
Mar. 28, answered a call to San Marco Drive in reference to a missing person. A complainant stated the victim should have returned home March 27, 2011 and has not returned yet. Investigation continues.
Mar. 28, answered a call to Luckie Street in reference to threats. A complainant stated known offender kept calling making threats.
Mar. 28, answered a call to Chad Claxton Street in reference to a theft. A complainant stated known offender came to his rental property and stole the 500 BTU air conditioning unit. Investigation continues.
Mar. 28, answered a call to Agnes Williams Road in reference to a juvenile complaint. The complainant stated the juvenile is unruly. The juvenile was transported to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to speak with the Department of Juvenile.
Mar. 29, answered a call to Hutcheson Road in reference to a domestic family violence. A complainant stated her boyfriend had beat up her sister. Jamal Lashawn Walker, age 21, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and simple battery.
Mar. 29, answered a call to West Duke Street in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown stole 1500-guard rail post and some old guard rails. Investigation continues.
Mar. 29, answered a call to Bertell Road in reference to a domestic. A complainant stated the known offender came to the above residence to pick up her child and got into a verbal altercation with her husband and became irate. At time of arrival the offender had left the residence.
Mar. 30, answered a call to Sellers Road in reference to a 4-wheeler accident. There were no major injuries.
Mar. 31, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated person(s) unknown stole her base speakers out of the trunk of her vehicle. Investigation continues.
Mar. 31, answered a call to Altamaha School Road in reference to a domestic. A complainant stated she took the known offender the child support and she locked the child inside not wanting the child to leave.
April 1, during execution of a warrant Dewey Otis Altman, age 30, of Baxley, was arrested for violation of probation. Altman was charged with V.G.C.S.A.
