The premiere episode, Let’s Play Pirate, will focus on the murder of Nikki (Orvin) Bamberg, only 28 at the time of the murder, of Baxley. The murder transpired in Jeff Davis County in January 2008 near the Altamaha River on Georgia Highway 135.
Nikki’s estranged husband, Damon James Bamberg, 30 (at the time of the murder), and his mother, Sonya Lou Bamberg, 52 (at the time of the murder), both of Mount Vernon, were charged and later convicted of the murder.
The description of the upcoming episode of The Family That Slays Together, Let’s Play Pirate, cites “Someone went to a lot of trouble to kill Nikki Bamberg. Her ex-husband, Damon, and his mother, Sonya, are the prime suspects. But they would never kill Nikki in front of her young children...or would they?”
Rita Orvin, mother of Nikki, told The News-Banner that she encourages young women that may be experiencing domestic violence to watch this show and learn more about domestic violence before it’s too late. Orvin also stated that if you are in an abusive relationship to contact law enforcement or a domestic violence shelter such as The Refuge in Vidalia at 1-866-8-REFUGE.
