The Appling County Lady Pirates (2-3 overall) basketball team started the season on November 17 against Vidalia losing 44-55. Leading scorers for the Lady Pirates were Briyanna Brantley 17 points, Alexus Boles six points, Lyeshia Russell five points and Karlee Carter five points.
The Lady Pirates next game came against East Laurens on November 20 with the Lady Pirates losing a close contest 46-52. Leading the Lady Pirates in scoring were Brantley 16 points, Brianna Kornegay 13 points and Khalia Burkett eight points.
The Lady Pirates were able to pick up their first win of the season on November 27 against Jeff Davis 51-31. Boles with 19 points and Brantley with 22 points lead the team in scoring.
The Lady Pirates next game came against Wayne County on November 30 with the Lady Pirates losing 31-58. Leading scorers were Boles seven points, Brantley seven point and Burkett four points.
The Lady Pirates next game came on December 1 against Bacon County with the Lady Pirates winning 42-39. Leading the way in scoring was Brantley 16 points, Boles nine points and Tyqueria Jones five points.
The Lady Pirates will host Pierce County to start Region 1-AAA play on Tuesday, December 4. The Lady Pirates are also scheduled to face New Hampstead in Savannah on Friday, December 7 with both games scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
