On November 24 at approximately 8:53 p.m. Appling County Sheriff’s Office along with Georgia State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Poor Robin road at the intersection of Holmesville Road. The accident resulted in the fatality of Michael Rodney Tillman, age 53, of Surrency. The accident is under the investigation of Georgia State Patrol.
Nov. 9, answered a call on Northwood Drive in reference to a theft. The complainant stated that a battery had been taken off of a water pump. The complainant received information that someone sold a battery at Lewis Battery matching this description. Battery was recovered from Lewis Battery. Warrants are pending on a subject for taking battery.
Nov. 10, answered a call on Hill Top Road in reference to a burglary. Taken was a Honda four-wheeler, lawn mower, tools, etc. Investigation continues.
Nov. 14, answered a call on Blarney Road in reference to disorderly conduct. Altercation was between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The subjects got into a fuss, but no licks were passed. A citation was issued for disorderly conduct.
Nov. 15, investigated a one-vehicle accident on US 1 North. No injuries were reported.
Nov. 16, investigated a one-vehicle accident on GA Highway 4. No injuries were reported.
Nov. 16, investigated a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. 341 East. No injuries were reported.
Nov. 16, answered a call on Alderman Street in reference to theft by taking. Complainant stated that the offender took his dog, black in color. Dog answers to the name Smokey.
Nov. 16, investigated a one-vehicle accident on Hwy 121. No injuries were reported.
Nov. 16, answered a call on Jekyll Road in reference to a theft. Taken was a Samsung cell phone. Investigation continues.
Nov. 18, answered a call on Iris Lane in reference to disorderly conduct. A complainant stated that his stepfather came and woke him up and had a pistol pointed at him and threatened him. Lamar Jerry Leggett, age 65, of Baxley was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Nov. 18, met with a complainant at the sheriff’s office in reference to child custody. The complainant stated that his ex-wife did not bring the children to meet at the court appointed date/time.
Nov. 18, answered a call on County Farm Road in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between a husband and wife. Statements were taken and subjects were advised to see thr magistrate.
Nov. 18, answered a call on Ben Carter Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that an unknown person(s) damaged the door to his residence by kicking or prying the door open.
Nov. 19, received a call from Appling HealthCare in reference to an incident where a two-year old juvenile had been run over by a vehicle. The juvenile was transported to Memorial Medical in Savannah for treatment.
Nov. 19, answered a call on Cattle Gap Lane in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between brothers and a sister-in-law was also involved. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate.
Nov. 19, investigated a one-vehicle accident on Hwy 341. No injuries were reported.
Nov. 20, answered a call to Phillipi Church Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated she noticed her pistol that she kept in her vehicle is missing after returning from a trip out of town. Investigation continues.
Nov. 20, Answered a call to Old Field Cemetery road in reference to threats. The complainant stated a subject was shooting a firearm in front of his residence. The complainant followed the subject to his residence and made threats with a gun. Tyler Youmans was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts.
