Krisann Rentz and Douglass Hunter Johnson were joined in holy matrimony on May 12, at the Lovely Lane Chapel of Epworth by the Sea, Saint Simons Island. The Reverend Lamar Lee of the Baxley Church of God officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Broni and Chris Rentz of Baxley. The groom’s parents are Judy and Alex Johnson of Baxley. Maternal grandparents are Mable and Herbert Rentz and Barbara and Henry Grady Baker, all of Baxley. Paternal grandparents are the late Faye and Hunter Johnson of Baxley and the late Catherine and William Thomas of Memphis, Tennessee.
Amanda Cain, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were cousin of the bride, Cassi Stone, groom’s sister-in-law, Melissa Johnson, and cousin of the groom, Carrie Vanderver.
The groom’s father was his best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brother, Thomas Johnson, the bride’s brother, Jeremy Rentz, and friend of the groom, Hank Stewart.
On the eve of the wedding, a lovely bridesmaids’ luncheon was hosted by aunts of the groom and aunt of the bride. The party was held at the Ocean Lodge on St. Simons Island. Groomsmen and male family members of the couple gathered for skeet shooting at Sea Island Gun Club, followed by lunch at Gnat’s Landing.
The groom’s parents hosted the wedding party and friends and relatives attending the wedding with a rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding at the Ocean Room and Terrace of the Sea Island Beach Club.
The reception featured a wedding cake created by aunt of the bride, Mandi Stone. It was held in the Turner Lodge of Epworth by the Sea.
The bride graduated from Appling Christian Academy and Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
The groom graduated from Appling County High School and the University of South Carolina at Beaufort with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
Following their honeymoon in the Caribbean, the couple resides in Beaufort, South Carolina.
