Dear Editor and Community,
During the month of October, the Appling County churches were asked to help with the supply of peanut butter for the Appling County Food Bank. The food bank was facing a shortage, due to supplies not being available through USDA and SNAP programs. On Monday, after the first Sunday of October, a couple of gentlemen came to the food bank and stated their pastor announced the need for peanut butter; they went out and bought eight flats of peanut butter and made the donation.
Peanut Butter response, terrific!
The Appling County churches, schools, and individuals have responded to this need in a tremendous fashion. Hundreds of jars of peanut butter have been donated! This is a great savings to the food bank. There is no doubt that we live in a compassionate and caring community, that responds when there is a need. The folks of Appling County are the greatest! We thank all of you, who shared in this endeavor; you are much appreciated for your caring.
Some have asked what else they could do; two items that we have to purchase off the store shelf are paper towels and oatmeal. The paper towels and oatmeal are not available to the food bank through the programs that we have available. This is something we like to provide to families and we purchase them from the store. If donated this would save the food bank the cost of purchasing them.
