Sheriff Benny Deloach reports the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
On November 3, answered a call to Hoppy Trail in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he allowed some friends to spend the night at his residence and after they left he realized 1600-watt amp was missing.
Nov. 4, answered a call to Oscar Tippins road in reference to criminal damage to property. A complainant stated she found someone had broken the water pipe to her water heater, which flooded her residence and also discovered that her phone wires to her residence had been cut.
Nov. 5, answered a call to Poplar Lane in reference to a possible attempted suicide. The subject stated she had taken twenty sleeping pills and did not want to live. Appling EMS responded and the subject was transported to Appling ER for evaluation.
Nov. 7, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report harassment. Complainant stated her daughter comes to her house and harasses her.
Nov. 7, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated he found his Remington 522Viper rifle is missing from his residence. Investigation continues.
Nov. 7, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report harassing phone calls. The complainant stated her fourteen-year-old daughter had been receiving phone calls from a nineteen-year-old male. Investigators met with the subject and subject advised he would no longer have any contact with juvenile.
Nov. 7, answered a call to Deen’s Landing in reference to trespass/affray. The complainant stated a subject came to his residence looking for his girlfriend, and when told she was not there, a fight ensued. Upon officers arrival Joshua Ray Grantham, age 24, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and aggravated assault.
Nov. 7, answered a call to Blackshear Hwy. in reference to a runaway juvenile. The mother stated her son jumped from a vehicle while she was driving. The juvenile was located a short time later walking on Miles Road. A juvenile justice officer was notified and met with the parent and juvenile. The juvenile was released back to the mother.
Nov. 8, answered a call to John Lewis Lane in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated an unknown subject(s) went into her residence and stole an air/heating unit valued at $700.00 from the residence. Investigation continues.
Nov. 8, answered a call to John Lewis Lane in reference to Damage to Property. The complainant stated an unknown person(s) came to her residence and scratched her vehicle on both sides.
Nov. 8, answered a call to Blackshear Hwy. in reference to a domestic. The complainant stated she and her husband are in the process of divorce and could not agree on custody of the child. Officer asked for them to decide or he would call DFACS.
