Baxley Police make arrests
The following are highlights of incidents that were handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department over the past several days.
Oct. 2, at approximately 2:24 a.m., met with a resident at a Bryant Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that a subject who was at her home, snatched her pocketbook from her and then ran outside and rode off on a white in color bicycle. Warrants have been secured for the arrest of James Solomon, 63, of Baxley, on charges of one count of robbery. Contact the nearest law enforcement agency if you having any knowledge of where this subject is.
Oct. 2 at approximately 10:00 p.m., met with a resident at a Luckie Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that while she was away from her vehicle, person(s) unknown entered it and removed
her purse and contents. The purse is described as a black Vera Bradley brand purse.
Oct. 2 at approx. 2:40 a.m., met with a complainant at the Appling HealthCare System in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that while she was inside the hospital visiting, person(s) unknown entered her vehicle and removed her cell phone. The cell phone is described as an Apple brand IPhone 4.
Oct. 4 at approx. 5:25 p.m., met with a resident at a SW Park Ave. address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that while she was gone person(s) unknown entered his home and rummaged through his home. Reported taken was an undetermined amount of change.
Oct. 13 at approx. 5:00 p.m., met with a resident at a Moody Street address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that while he was gone person(s) unknown entered his home, and rummaged through it. Reported taken was an undetermined amount of change.
Oct. 16 at approx. 8:08 a.m., met with a complainant at Stone’s Feed and Seed in reference to a burglary. On arrival the complainant told officers that sometime during the night person(s) unknown broke into the business by ramming the rear door and busting it open. Reported missing were fifteen 50-pound bags of J. H. Best Choice, high-energy dog food.
Oct. 17 at approx. 4:52 a.m., met with a complainant at Flash Foods in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that while she was inside the store person(s) unknown jumped in her vehicle and drove off with it. A lookout was posted to other units and surrounding counties, for her 2001 Chevrolet Impala, bearing GA tag BSC0870. At approximately 9:30 a.m. the stolen vehicle was found abandoned at the Hungry Lion Convenience Store. Reported taken from the vehicle was the victim’s checkbook and some other debit cards. The vehicle was towed in for processing and then released to its owner.
Oct. 17 at approx. 3:13 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival the officers met with the LPC officer whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Kelly Savannah Lamb, 22, of Blackshear, on one count of theft by shoplifting.
Oct. 17 at approx. 4:36 p.m., met with a resident at a Canal Street address in reference to an intruder in the home. On arrival the resident told officers that when he got home there was a black male wearing a green jacket and a blue hood inside his residence. When the black male subject saw him he fled out the door and left on foot. A lookout was posted to other units and a search of the area was conducted. No one fitting the description was found in the area.
Oct. 17 at approx. 4:51 p.m., met with a resident at a Luckie Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that she had been gone and when she returned she discovered that person(s) unknown had removed her pistol which had been hidden in a room. The pistol is described as a Taurus brand, .38 caliber SPL five shot revolver with serial number 2-850029UL. The gun has been entered on the GCIC computer network as stolen.
Oct. 18 at approx. 8:22 a.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer who told them that an unknown person(s) had removed several items of jewelry from a rack and left the store parking lot in a white four-door vehicle.
Oct. 21 at approx. 6:46 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer whom had four subjects detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident were Ashley Krysten Caldwell, 17, Randall Eugene Dean, 30, Jennifer Joyce Giles, 28, and a 16-year-old juvenile subject. All four were charged with one count each of theft by shoplifting.
Oct. 22 at approx. 4:01 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Brittany Ann Milton, 26, of Baxley, on one count theft by shoplifting.
Oct. 25 at approx. 3:32 p.m., received a call to vehicle that was weaving all over the road and was speeding. Officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle and after conducting a short investigation and consent search the driver was arrested. Arrested was Jacob Eugene Logan, 19, of Jesup, on charges of one count each of made a traffic stop on speeding, driving under the influence, pills not in their original container, possession of a drug related object and possession of marijuana.
Oct. 26 at approx. 10:37 p.m., while on patrol observed several subjects in front of one of the housing projects acting suspicious. When the officer stopped to talk to the subjects and find out if they lived in the housing projects, one of the subjects took off and fled from the officers on foot. A lookout was posted to other units, but they were unable to locate the subject, who was indentified as Joshua Ira A Williams, 20, of Baxley, from an I.D. that he dropped at the scene. Warrants were secured for his arrest in connection with fleeing from a police officer.
Oct. 27, answered a call to Three Way Corner Store in reference to a fight. On arrival the officers saw a vehicle leaving the scene that was involved in the incident. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle to inquire about the call. The driver failed to stop for officers, and after a few minutes the driver pulled into a residence, where he stopped. Upon the officer making contact he discovered the presence of marijuana on the driver side door in plain view. As a result of the stop and seizure the driver an Antonio Lenard Jackson, 22, of Baxley, was arrested on one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude police officer and possession of marijuana.
Oct. 27 at approx. 7:33 p.m., responded to Lott’s EZ Own in response from a caller that said they saw someone entering a vehicle on the lot. On arrival officers were unable to locate anyone, but did discover a vehicle door open with the keys in the ignition and the motor running. Upon further checking officers discovered that another nine vehicles had keys in the ignition. The vehicles and the business were secured until a key holder arrived and took possession of the property and the vehicles.
Oct. 28, made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a seat belt violation. As a result of the stop, officers learned the identity of the driver to be wanted on an outstanding charge and placed him under arrest. Upon arriving at the detention center officers discovered that the driver had tried to hide a bag of six individually wrapped bags of marijuana in the back seat of the patrol car. Arrested in connection with this incident and the one on the 26th, was Joshua Ira A Williams, 20, of Baxley, on charges of one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude police officers in the earlier incident and possession with the intent to distribute controlled substance in this incident.
Oct. 30 at approx. 12:50 met with a resident at a Central Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that she was missing her EPPI card and that she had received a call from a local store telling her that someone had been in the store and had used her card there to pay for some items. After a short investigation into the incident, Becky A. Lord, 41, of Baxley, was arrested on two counts of financial transaction card fraud.
