James and Tina Pate of Jesup announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly Maria Pate of Savannah, to Guy Steven Griffis, II of K’ville, the son of Guy and Phyllis Griffis of K’ville.
Kelly is the granddaughter of Donnie Buffkin and the late James D. Buffkin of Jesup and Geraldine Pate of Savannah and the late Robert Pate. Her maternal great grandparents are the late Gilford and Ivie Walker of Jesup and the late Mildred Buffkin of Jesup.
Her paternal great grandparents are the late Robert M. and Geraldine R. Pate of Micro, N.C. and the late Elijah and Delanie Lamm of Kenly, N.C.
She is a 1998 graduate of Wayne County High School and a 2004 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing with a bachelors of science in nursing. She is employed by Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah as a registered nurse in the emergency department.
Steven is the grandson of Horace and Nancy Minchew of Jesup and Luke and Jeraldine Griffis of K’ville. His maternal great grandparents are the late Dennis and Ruth Anderson and the late Tommy and Sadie Minchew.
His paternal great grandparents are the late Marvin and Addie Griffis and the late Alma and Clyo Thornton.
He is a 2005 graduate of Appling County High School and a 2007 graduate of Altamaha Technical School with a diesel mechanic certificate. He is owner and operator of Griffis Farms.
The private ceremony and reception will be held on November 10 by invitation only.
