Dear Editor,
With the elections approaching many of us are wondering about which candidate to vote for. We have candidates for local, state and federal positions available. It is my prayer that those who are registered to vote and will vote in the upcoming elections, that they will become informed voters. Do a little research, make calls, ask questions, find out what the candidate and party stands for. In doing some research I found a few interesting items about the Democratic National Platform that I’d like to pass along to others.
Let’s “Party”
According to the 2012 Democratic National Platform it states the following:
‘The Administration has said that that the word “family” in immigration includes LGBT relationships in order to protect bi-national families threatened with deportation.’
‘The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay.’
‘We support marriage equality and support the movement to secure equal treatment under law for same sex couples.’
‘We oppose discriminatory federal and state constitutional amendments and other attempts to deny equal protection of the laws to committed same sex couples who seek the same respect and responsibilities as other married couples.’
‘During the Obama administration, the Justice Department has initiated careful, thorough, and independent reviews of proposed voting changes, and it has prevented states from implementing voter identification laws that would be harmful to minority voters.’
Search the web, Democratic National Platform or visit Democrats.org. I looked at the local site for the Appling Democrats, Applingdemocrats.com, but could not find a link to the Democratic National Platform. There are over 30 pages that you can download as a .pdf file and I encourage you to read it for yourself. There’s a lot more that can be listed above, but I would hope that what I’ve listed is enough for someone to make a decision as to which “Party” to vote for.

Why didn't we get inform about the republicans. Why is it so one sided
