Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Oct. 13, answered a call to Woodlawn Church Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Two subjects had an altercation, which led to the arrest of Jeminey Lee Chavis, 30, of Baxley. Chavis was charged with disorderly conduct.
Oct. 13, answered a call to Surrency in reference a child custody dispute. A complainant stated she picked up her son from his visitation with his father and a dispute began with the father. The complainant got her son and left the residence without further incident.
Oct. 13, answered a call to Chad Claxton Street in reference to harassing phone calls. The complainant stated his mother continues to call and harass him after he has asked her to stop.
Oct. 14, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had a verbal altercation. Both parties agreed to settle the dispute.
Oct. 14, answered a call to Surrency in reference to shots fired. Subject firing gun was found and stated he was sighting in his guns.
Oct. 14, answered a call to Gail Street in reference to a theft. The complainant stated she found a variety of her jewelry, valued at approximately $5,000.00, had been stolen. Investigation continues.
Oct. 15, answered a call to Highway 144 in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he saw a subject take his rabbit pens from his property. Ashton Jamal Baxley, 18, of Baxley, was arrested in connection with this incident and was charged with theft by taking.
Oct. 15, answered a call to Lee Woods Road of Surrency in reference to a theft. The complainant stated unknown person or persons had broken into his residence and stole his microwave, Vizio TV 32 inch flat screen and a Stephens Arm shotgun. Investigation continues.
Oct. 15, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a stalking incident. The complainant stated she had been just talking with a subject and now he has been following her and she wanted to file a report.
Oct. 15, answered a call to Metts Road of Bristol in reference to an unruly juvenile. The grandmother stated she and her grandson had a verbal dispute, was disrespectful and left the residence without permission. The Department of Juvenile Justice was notified turned over to the Juvenile Officer.
Oct. 16, answered a call to West Pecan Street of Surrency in reference to an assault. The complainant stated she and a subject had an altercation and the subject had made threats toward her.
Oct. 16, answered a call to Cauley Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated her gun was taken to a subject to be repaired and would not return it. The complainant discovered that the subject had taken the gun to a local pawnshop and pawned it. Investigation continues.
Oct. 17, investigated a two-vehicle accident at Altamaha Technical College. No injuries were reported.
Oct. 17, answered a call on Scarlett Drive in reference to a dog bite incident. The complainant stated that she was delivering a package to a residence on Scarlett Drive and got bit on her hand and leg. The complainant went to the ER to be checked out.
Oct. 17, answered a call on Bay Street in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated that the offender has been calling her phone all times of the night and calling her while she is at work.
Oct. 17, answered a call on Harmony Church Road in reference to damage to property incident. The complainant stated he had someone to come and winterize his home and damage was done inside the house.
Oct. 17, met with the complainant at the Appling County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a dispute. The altercation was between a mother and a son.
Oct. 17, answered a call on Ten Mile Road in reference to a theft. Taken were several checks and some cash. The checks were later cashed at a local convenience store. Arrested in connection with this incident was, Clark Eason, 24, of Baxley. Eason was charged with two counts of theft by taking.
Oct. 18, answered a call on Oscar Tippins Road in reference to terroristic threats. A complainant stated that the offender had threatened to kill the complainant. Upon officer’s arrival, the offender had already left and could not be located.
