Joan Carroll
Joan Carroll, 71, died Friday, October 12, at Douglasville Nursing and Rehab. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m., at Mathews Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Lanning officiating. Interment was at 3:00 p.m. at Hazlehurst City Cemetery in Hazlehurst.
Mrs. Carroll was a native of Hazlehurst, and a resident of Leesburg. She was retired from Carquest as an administrative assistant, Past President of VFW Post #2785 Women’s Auxiliary and a member of Avalon United Methodist Church. Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Phoenix Carroll.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Carroll Shemery, Worth Co.; a son, Craig Carroll, Harris Co.; a brother, Kelly Grace, Hazlehurst; two sisters, Marilyn Gribble, Baxley and Saralyn Stapleton (David), Hazlehurst; and two grandchildren, Heather Shemery and Haley Shemery.
The family received friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
