On Thursday, October 11, at 9:30 am, the school will honor the Grand Marshal, Mr. Charles Vann, as well as the Homecoming Court, at a pep rally. The community and school will unite on Thursday afternoon, for the annual homecoming parade at 6:00. The parade will begin at the red light of Martin Luther King Avenue and end at Wal-Mart. All entries should be turned in to Appling County High School by Wednesday, October 10th. For more information, contact ACHS at 367-8610.
Homecoming activities will conclude on Friday night when the Pirates take on the Brantley County Herons. High School students will then enjoy the Homecoming dance at the high school cafeteria.
About Vann
Charles L. Vann, Sr. is the son of Ann Vann and Charles and Pauline Carter. He is married to Cynthia Vann and they have three children: C.J. Vann, Noah Vann and Tavis Vann. Charles has been an employee at Appling County High School for almost 15 years, where he teaches Welding Fabrication. Charles has served as golf coach for Appling County Middle School and Appling County High School. He has also coached football for the Appling County Recreation Department and ACHS. Charles gets enjoyment from working with students and teaching them new skills that they will be able to use later in life. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing and hunting.
Charles feels honored to be chosen Homecoming Grand Marshal 2012 and would like to thank all that felt him worthy to carry the title. He stated, “It’s great to work in such an awesome school and community and be recognized for your good deeds.”
