Following an extended discussion, the Baxley City Council agreed to a recommendation from Manager Jeff Baxley to allow City Attorney Alex Johnson to draw up a rough draft revised ordinance to comply with state laws concerning B-1 and B-2 zones with reference to businesses that sell alcohol beverages. This decision was made at the regular council meeting held September 11. The rough draft ordinance will be brought before the council for review and a public hearing will be held on the matter before final approval.
City council agrees to revise ordinance
A resolution was adopted authorizing the Regional Commission to submit an updated Short Term Work Program as part of the Georgia Planning Act of 1989. Georgia Laws require all local governments in Georgia to prepare and adopt a comprehensive plan and require an update at least every five years.
The council unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance annexing property for auto dealership Woody Folsom Ford, Inc. located at 1633 Golden Isles West and establishing a Business (B-2) zone.
