Scoring recap
The Pirates first score came on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Vernon Dasher to Anthony Rayner and was set up by a fumble recovery by Devontae Wilkerson at the Pirate 48. The extra point was blocked to make the score 6-0 with 9:31 remaining in the first quarter.
The Gamecocks answered with a 62-yard touchdown run but would miss the extra point attempt to tie the score 6-6 with 9:09 left in the first quarter.
The Pirates regained the lead on their ensuing drive on a 31-yard field goal by Israel Jaramillo to make the score with 5:01 left in the first quarter 9-6.
The Gamecocks took their first lead on their next drive on a 15-yard touchdown run and after adding the two-point conversion the score was 9-14 with 49 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
The Pirates answered quickly connecting on a 43-yard pass by Jason Dhaliwal to Rayner to set up a one-yard touchdown run by Justin Moore. Moore would run in the two-point conversion attempt to make the score with 21 seconds remaining in the first quarter 17-14.
Neither team was able to score in the second quarter but the Pirates were able to score on their first possession of the third quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by Dasher. Jaramillo would add the extra point to make the score 24-14 with 8:25 remaining in the third quarter.
The Gamecocks answered with a touchdown drive of their own ending in a seven-yard touchdown run to make the score, with the two-point conversion, 24-22 with 3:16 left in the third quarter.
The Gamecocks took the lead with 48 seconds remaining in the third quarter on a 22-yard touchdown run but the two-point try was no good making the score 24-28.
The Pirates took the lead back on a 20-yard touchdown run by Dasher to make the score, with the extra point, 31-28 with 11:20 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Wilkerson recovered his second Gamecock fumble to set up a 14-yard touchdown run by Dasher to make the score 38-28 with 9:39 remaining in the contest.
The Pirate defense would also set up the next Pirate score on an interception by Rayner and ending on a 52-yard touchdown run by Moore to make the score 45-28 with 2:42 remaining.
The Gamecocks scored on a ten-yard touchdown but were no good on the two-point conversion to make the final score 45-34.

Leading rushers were Dasher 174 yards on 22 carries-three touchdowns, Moore 90 yards on 18 carries-two touchdowns, Dasha Carter 15 yards on four carries, Rayner 14 yards on two carries, Dennis Williams ten yards on one carry, Dhaliwal four yards on two carries, Derrix Henry three yards on one carry.
Leading receivers were Rayner 158 yards on six catches-one touchdown, Moore 11 yards on one catch, Heisman Johnson nine yards on two catches, Ronald Handsome six yards on one catch.
Pirates quarterbacks were Dasher nine completions on 17 attempts for 141 yards-one touchdown, Dhaliwal one completion on two attempts for 43 yards.
