Cynthia Annette McCall, of Baxley, was nominated by her cousin, Renee Eason, for the Heart of Georgia Altamaha CARE-NET Regional Caregiver of the Year Award, obtained from an article in the July issue of the local Baxley News-Banner. The 500-word essay submitted by Renee Eason about Ms. McCall and her hard work, dedication and involvement in the field of Caregiving and her efforts to improve the quality of life for others, has caused Ms. McCall to be selected as the 2012 Family Caregiver of the Year for the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Region.
On Oct. 5, 2012, Cynthia Annette McCall will be recognized by former First Lady Rosalynn Carter at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. Ms. Carter hosts an annual event to recognize the contributions of Caregivers from across the State of Georgia.
The Heart of Georgia Altamaha CARE-NET has in turn, submitted Ms. McCall nomination to the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving as a nominee for the Georgia Caregiver of the Year Award, which will recognize outstanding family, volunteer and paraprofessionals caregiver. Each of the three winners will receive a commemorative gilded rose from Rosalynn Carter, former first lady, and a cash gift of $1,000 as well. And former U.S. President Jimmy Carter may be in attendance at the event, if his schedule permits. Ms. McCall will also be recognized as the regional winner at the annual awards banquet and luncheon to be held at Little Ocmulgee State Park in McRae/Helena in May or June of next year.
