Rumors were flying in the parking lot, some saying a bomb threat had taken place others saying a shooting was set to happen. Regardless, I braved the rumors and entered into the school. My nerves were immediately calmed as I was greeted by smiling, understanding and calm members of the schools’ faculty and staff searching every book bag, purse, and other items of every person who entered. I can honestly say that I have never been more proud to call myself a member of this school system. The quick response by our local leaders was very professional and I have never felt safer. I want to personally thank local law enforcement officials who vow to protect us, Superintendent Scarlett Copeland, ACHS Principal Dr. Gene Starr, Assistant Principal Mr. David Williams, and the staff for their swift and orderly response to the threat.
It is a blessing to know that we live in a county where our safety is put first. I encourage members of this community to join me in giving thanks to all of those who had the best interest of we as students at their hearts on Monday!
