Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.
On August 18, deputies answered a call on Lawanna Drive in reference to disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant who stated that the offender came home and was yelling, using profanity and hitting the complainant. William Jeffery Tootle, 49, of Baxley, was arrested in connection with this incident. Tootle was charged with disorderly conduct.
Aug. 20, deputies met with a complainant at the sheriff’s office in reference to forgery. The complainant stated that several of his checks had been cashed at Interstate Credit Union. Complainant provided copies of forgery affidavits and the checks. Steve Malick, 28, Brandie Jill Carter, 35, and Sherry Elaine Smith, 38, all of Baxley, were arrested in connection with this incident and charged with forgery.
Aug. 20, answered a call on Old Surrency Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that a rock flew up and cracked her windshield.
Aug. 25, answered a call on Gene Road in reference to simple assault. The complainant stated there was an altercation between acquaintances where the offender attacked the complainant. EMS was called.
Aug. 25, answered a call on Gene Road in reference to theft by taking. A complainant stated that several tools were missing. Investigation continues.
Aug. 26, answered a call on Cauley Lane in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated that the windshield was busted out on her Nissan Pathfinder.
Aug. 26, answered a call on Patterson Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. A complainant stated that a vehicle was parked on his property.
Aug. 27, answered a call on Fireline Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was a Jeep Cherokee, white in color.
Aug. 27, answered a call on Jeff Davis County line in reference to a runaway juvenile. Upon speaking with Jeff Davis deputies, they had located the juvenile. The juvenile was released to his aunt.
Aug. 27, answered a call on Hatch Parkway South in reference to theft by conversion. The complainant stated that he rented a room to the offender and he left and he didn’t pay. Complainant was advised to see the magistrate court.
Aug. 27, answered a call on Buckhead Road in reference to a possible overdose. The victim was taken to Appling HealthCare’s emergency room for treatment.
Aug. 29, answered a call to Miles Landing Road, in Bristol, in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated a subject had driven through a gated entrance doing considerable damage to the gate. Investigation continues.
Aug. 30, answered a call on Miller Road in reference to a theft. Taken was a battery out of a tractor. The battery was sold at Lewis Battery. After retrieving the battery, the offender returned the battery back to the owner. No charges were pressed by the owner.
