Child custody dispute results in death
According to Police Chief James Godfrey, at approximately 11:04 a.m., on Friday, August 24, officers of the Baxley Police Department, Appling County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Altamaha Drug Task Force responded to 181 Bay Street in reference to a female being shot. On arrival officers observed a female laying on the ground and after checking on her officers discovered that she was deceased. The female was later identified as Tiesha Kenyetta Davis, 26, of Baxley. The coroner’s office was contacted and the victim’s body was released to the coroner.
Relatives at the house told officers that the victim’s boyfriend, a James Vann, had pulled up and got into an argument with Davis over a child custody issue. The argument escalated and Vann shot her several times and sped off in a small blue vehicle.
Other officers at the scene observed a subject take off on foot, gave chase and caught him around IGA where the subject was detained pending investigation. As a result of the subject being detained, a firearm was seized from him.
A lookout was posted to other units and surrounding counties for James Cornelius Vann, of Baxley, and the vehicle he was last seen driving in connection with this incident. Members of the Baxley Public Works Department, along with members from the EMA were called to the scene for assistance in traffic and security control.
At approximately 1:10 p.m. Appling County Deputies, after responding to several calls in reference to a home invasion near Surrency, took Vann into custody in connection with the shooting and the home invasion without further incident.
Upon taking him into custody officers observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his back. Vann was transported to Appling HealthCare for his injuries. Vann’s wound apparently was the result of the glass in the vehicle he was driving that was shot out by a subject who was chasing after him from the scene.
Vann, 28, of Baxley, was arrested on charges of one count murder/felony murder and aggravated assault under the Domestic Violence Act. The other subject is currently being detained pending further investigation.

This is in reference to the death of a very loving frien tieasha davis she will be greatly missed by all.her death was.caused by a man that has no morals os a heart he left 3 loving children with out a mom because he couldn't controll her any more so he took her life for his osn selfish reasons

9out of 10 domestic cases end up in murder the bad thing is people see what is goin on but they turn their head and act like nothing is goin on I know from experience my ex-husband tried to kill me when I told him to leave he got very angry n tried to stab me The polie caught himwith all my kitchen knives on him the sad thing is he only stayed in jail for 3 months n he was out n now he back doin the same thing but to somebody else but she don't belive me I tried to warn her but you know how that goes but the first sign is a slap. Then he swears he won't do it again then it happens again but there is help contact the heavens the people there will help you. I wish I would have known about them I would have ased for help me n my children suffered. But you don't have to
