Godfrey gives recap of events
Baxley Police Chief James Godfrey reports that on February 13 at approximately 12:47, answered a call to a Cadillac Drive address in reference to an unresponsive person. On arrival officers met with the EMS unit where they observed a male subject lying in the doorway and was unresponsive. Investigation revealed that the resident an Andy John Prescott, age 62, had died sometime during the night. The case was turned over to the coroner’s office.
Feb. 18 at approx. 8:02 a.m., met with a complainant at Excel-Care in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had entered an ambulance sometime during the night and removed a large jump bag, orange in color, filled with medical supplies, an IV box with IV equipment and other miscellaneous equipment.
Feb. 18 at approx. 6:48 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this theft was Brittany Linda Fletcher, 19, of Baxley, on charges of one count theft by shoplifting.
Feb. 19 at approx. 9:05 p.m., answered a call to a Tollison Street address in reference to a possible child molestation incident. On arrival and after investigation, James Edward Dubberly, 36, of Baxley, was charged with one count enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Feb. 20 at approx. 3:38 a.m., answered a call to a resident on Kenny Lane in reference to a possible assault. On arrival and after investigation, Lennal John C. Dasher, 18, of Baxley, was charged with one count aggravated assault.
Feb. 20 at approx. 5:35 p.m., met with a resident at a Highland Drive address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had entered her resident and removed a flat screen TV.
Feb. 20 at approx. 9:45 p.m., answered a call to Flash Foods in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with a complainant who related to them that he had left his wallet on the counter after paying for some items, and when he noticed it gone, he returned back to the store, to discover the wallet was gone. After reviewing the security tapes, Jeremy Brad Nail, 33, of Baxley, was charged with one count theft of lost/mislaid property.
Feb. 21 at approx. 1:52 p.m., met with a resident at a Troupe Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had entered the resident and removed a stove, refrigerator, hot water heater, a roll of flooring, and two air condition units.
Feb. 22 at approx. 10:49 a.m., answered a call to Julie’s Specialties in reference to a theft. On arrival the clerk told officers that person(s) unknown had removed a Verizon Octane phone from their business, sometime over the weekend.
Feb. 25 at approx. 6:51 a.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart parking lot in reference to a suspicious person. On arrival officers observed a subject sitting in a vehicle, with a clear bag of white powder in is lap. The officers detained the subject pending a field test, which came back positive for cocaine. Arrested in connection with this seizure was a Lester Kyle Johnson, 27, of Baxley, on charges of one count V.G.C.S.A. possession of a controlled substance.
Feb. 26 approx. 10:48 a.m., answered a call to Key West Inn in reference to a theft. On arrival the clerk told officers that a subject had entered the lobby and went behind the counter and removed approx. $60.00 from the cash drawer and then left.
Feb. 28 at approx. 12:45, met with the SRO officer at the Appling County High School in reference to a trespasser. On arrival the SRO had a subject detained that wasn’t supposed to be on school grounds. The subject, David Lanard Sailem, 17, of Baxley, was removed and charged with criminal trespass.
Mar. 1 at approx. 6:08 p.m., met with a complainant at the Jeweler’s Bench in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that an individual had taken some items from his store and had pawned them at a local pawnshop. Arrested in connection with this incident was Joshua Candler Lewis, 28, of Baxley, on charges of one count theft by taking.
Mar. 5 at approx. 4:14 p.m., met with a complainant at Hutto’s warehouse in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had been enteringhis property and removing various items, such as refrigeration units, cases, coils, hot water heaters, accordion rollers, copper tubing and copper pipes.
Mar. 5 at approx. 7:47 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Barbara James, 42, of Baxley, on charges of one count theft by shoplifting.
Mar. 5 at approx. 9:37p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Brianna Shayne Willoughby, 20, of Baxley, on charges of one count theft by shoplifting.
Mar. 11 at approx. 8:00 p.m., met with a resident at a MLK Drive address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had entered his vehicle and removed an undetermined amount of currency and change.
Mar. 15 at approx. 5:04 p.m., met with a resident at a Tippins Street address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had damaged the front door to his residence in attempts to gain entry. Nothing was reported missing at report time.
