Eagles open 2011 season
The Appling Christian Academy Eagle Baseball team opened the 2011 season with a 3 and 2 record. The two losses came early with a double header against Bethlehem Christian. “The team hit well and the pitching held but we made too many errors in the field,” stated coach Phil Phillips.

This year’s team has only three seniors but they have all contributed in a big way. Pitching Caleb Ellington and Don Phillips have a combined ERA of under.40 over 21 innings. Jammie Dover leads the team with 11 RBIs and 2 homeruns.
Other stat leaders include Sophomore Rex Cox with a 1.000 fielding percentage and Sophomore Andrew Phillips who leads the team in both batting average at .429 and extra base hits at four.
“We still have a lot of work to do and more baseball to play but I see the team improving daily. They are working hard as individuals and playing well together as a team,” added Phillips.
The next home game was scheduled for March 21 against Highland Christian from Valdosta GA.
