There is no doubt that our country needs health care reform in some manner and I do respect President Obama and congress for at least giving it a shot. However, I have been opposed to portions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) for one major reason. That one sole reason…the individual mandate.
When our forefathers crafted the Constitution I believe it was done with the mindset to keep the government from intruding in our individual liberties. With the ruling by the Supreme Court last week, that upheld even the individual mandate portion of Obamacare, I believe we are headed down a treacherous slope with no return.
What will come next? A nationally mandated dietary menu that is approved by our President and Congress, and then upheld by the Supreme Court? Can you imagine going to the grocery store and only having the ability to purchase items that are deemed appropriate by the government? Say goodbye to bacon, soda, chocolate and Lucky Charms. Don’t laugh; the above ruling sets that precedence for such in my personal opinion.
At this rate I predict the next big issue will be the right to keep and bear arms, our Second Amendment.
As for the Supreme Court, it is unimaginable to me that five of these nine “life appointed” justices could cave to pressure and side with the current administration that clearly favors more and more unlimited government intrusion into our daily lives. A sad day for Liberty. It’s funny that I should be writing about this topic on this day, the day we celebrate our independence.
Or could the Supreme Court be sending a message to voters with its flimsy “the mandate is merely a tax” argument? It is now up to the voters in this country to decide the future of this country. November will be here before we know it; choose wisely.

It is a sad day for freedom and liberty when Chief Justice Roberts decided with obama administration and up-held obama-care. Nov elections will be the turning point for this great nation, please do your home work and vote for freedom not socialism. This may be our last chance to turn this ship around.
