Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
June 22, answered a call to Fire Tower Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated an unknown subject entered her residence and took food items and jewelry.
June 22, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated a neighbor is damaging the county roadway by cutting a trench across the road making a speed break and is also doing damage to her vehicle.
June 23, during a routine traffic stop five subjects were arrested for possession, furnishing and purchasing of alcoholic beverage below legal age. Also during traffic stop, information was obtained that a juvenile had been sexually assaulted. Investigation led to the arrest of Anthony Dallas Howard, 18, of Baxley. Howard was charged with aggravated sexual battery.
June 23, answered a call on Branch Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated that the offender had been leaving threatening voicemails on her phone.
June 23, answered a call at Copeland Trailer Park in reference to harassment. A complainant stated that the offender has been harassing them.
June 23, answered a call on Ten Mile Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, the complainant stated that she thought her children were involved in some drug activity. Both children were using profanity and were verbally assaulting their mother. Cory Daniel Drake, 22, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with obstruction of officer, because he refused to obey the request of the officer to stay back away from his mother.
June 25, answered a call to Blackshear Highway in reference to a welfare check on an elderly subject. Officers responded to residence and broke window to a door to gain entrance to residence due to no response of resident that lives in the home. The subject was found to be in good condition.
June 25, answered a call to Gail Street in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated a juvenile driving a vehicle ran over his mailbox. The juvenile and the mother of the juvenile were confronted. The mother stated she permitted her son to drive the vehicle and would pay for the mailbox. The mother was written a citation for permitting the juvenile to drive without a license.
June 25, met with the complainant in the lobby at the sheriff’s office in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated that there was a large amount of currency missing and a Phillips TV was also damaged.
June 26, answered a call to Tillman Road of Surrency in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated his neighbor’s dog runs out into the roadway and bites the side of his vehicle when passing by, doing damage to his vehicles. Complainant has attempted several times to talk with the owner of the dog.
June 28, answered a call to Terrance Drive in reference to a theft. A complainant stated she was missing two batteries for a toy four-wheeler. The complainant gave the officer a possible suspect. Investigation continues.
June 29, answered a call to the Pine Lodge Motel in reference to a vehicle being stolen from Levy, Florida. Our deputies were contacted by Levy County Sheriff’s Office about a Ford Taurus that was located by GPS in our county. The vehicle was retrieved and towed until the owner of the vehicle could pick it up. The driver of the vehicle was advised of the situation.
June 30, answered a call on Moody Altman Road in reference to an attempted suicide. Upon arrival officers found the subject attempting to commit suicide with an epi pen and a needle. Investigation led to the subject being taken to the ER for evaluation.
