Sheriff Benny Deloach, of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, reported that on June 13 officers received an anonymous tip of subjects growing marijuana on 206 Willow Lane. Investigation by the DNR, Altamaha Drug Task Force and the Appling County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of Connie Sherman Smith, 50, and Fred Lee Calhoun, 56, were both arrested and charged with V.G.C.S.A. - marijuana.
On June 14, a routine traffic stop on Tippins Street resulted in the arrest of Victor Morris, 23, of Baxley, and Misty Ann Creamer, 31, of Baxley. Investigation led officers to a local motel room where a large quantity of marijuana and powdered cocaine was located. Morris and Creamer were both charged with possession of marijuana less than one oz., V.G.C.S.A. - marijuana and V.G.C.S.A. - cocaine.
The subjects in both cases are currently being held in the Appling County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings by a superior court judge.
On June 15 a routine traffic stop on Nails Ferry Road resulted in the arrest of Eugene Stone, 43, of Hazlehurst. Stone was charged with V.G.C.S.A. - methamphetamine, D.U.I. and possession of drug related object.

June 6, answered a call to Hutcheson Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant went to a residence to get personal items and a subject would not allow her to take the items. When the officer arrived the complainant was allowed to get her personal items.
June 7, answered a call to Branch Road in reference to a civil dispute. A complainant stated a subject sold her a vehicle and also sold the same vehicle to another individual.
June 8, answered a call to Parker’s Convenience Store of Surrency in reference to a child custody dispute. The father of the child did not return the child from his weekend of visitation. The mother was advised to see her attorney.
June 8, answered a call to Thornton Road in reference to a property dispute. Family members are disputing over their father’s belongings.
June 9, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated while sitting on a porch subject(s) came by in a vehicle shooting a BB gun. The BB struck the back of the complainant’s vehicle doing damage to the vehicle.
June 10, answered a call to Maude Lamb Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated he heard a loud bang outside and found his mailbox to be completely destroyed. Also in the same area found was trashcan that had been blown up. Investigation continues; ATV tracks were found that led to a possible suspect’s residence.
June 11, answered a call to Zoar Road/Maple Circle in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person(s) took an item from his property without permission. The item taken was a Tasco digital trail camera. Investigation continues.
June 11, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to possible child neglect. The child had second-degree burns to feet. The officer found that the thermostat on the water heater was turned too high. The Department of Family and Children Services was notified.
June 13, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a property dispute. A complainant stated when she returned from vacation she found someone was farming on her land without her permission.
June 14, answered a call to Lennox Road in reference to a burglary/theft. A complainant stated taken from the property of her family estate was copper wiring from a well and also copper wiring from inside the house. Investigation continues.
June 15, answered a call to Chad Claxton Road in reference to abandoned bicycles. A complainant stated she found three bicycles left on the railroad tracks. The bicycles were moved from the tracks.
June 15, answered a call to George Craven Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his residence and several of his neighbors’ residences were their trash containers. Investigation continues.
