The Appling County Board of Commissioners held their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 5 in the Appling County Courthouse Annex. During the meeting the commissioners opened sealed bids on the 28 miles to be resurfaced throughout Appling County. Bids were received from J. Heirs and Company, Ricketson Construction Inc., Everett Dykes Grassing Co. and Littlefield Construction Co. The bids will be reviewed by County Manager Lee Lewis and County Road Department Manager Tommy Davis with the Commissioners to make a decision at a called meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 12 at 8:00 a.m.

The annual Indigent Defense Contract with the Brunswick Judicial Circuit for the amount of $79,600.00, up $2500.00 from 2011, was approved unanimously.
Chairman Lewis Parker shared information about the need of county entrance signs on all the main roads leading into the county. The Commissioners asked for prices to be gathered on the cost and designs of the greeting signs. The Commissioners also discussed the need to have signs atop the Appling County Courthouse on all sides.
Lewis shared information that Satilla Church Road will be closed due to a bridge being found unsafe in Bacon County. This is a second bridge that has been closed causing the road to be shut down in recent years. A detour will send motorists on Pat Lewis Road to Highway US 1.
An executive session for the purpose of personnel was held with no decisions being made after.
