Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
On June 1, deputies answered a call to James Kent Road in reference to an unresponsive person. Bobby Jesus Toler, 20, of Baxley, was found not breathing and unresponsive. Coroner Grimes was notified and the death is still under investigation.
May 24, investigated an accident at the Appling County Recreation Complex. A complainant stated that she left her vehicle parked at the ball field, when she returned someone had hit her vehicle and left the scene without notifying anyone.
May 24, answered a call on Varnadore Lane in reference to a vehicle fire. A complainant stated she heard two loud pops and the dog started barking. She looked outside to see her neighbor’s vehicle on fire.
May 25, answered a call to Altamaha Elementary School in reference to a theft. A complainant stated during some remodeling at the school it was found that a Kindle Fire from the Library was missing. Investigation continues.
May 26, a routine traffic stop on Highway 121 in Surrency resulted in the arrest of Joshua Darren Reggler, 23, of Augusta. Reggler was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drugs to be kept in original container.
May 26, answered a call on John Lewis Lane in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between soon to be ex-husband and wife.
May 26, answered a call on Old Field Cemetery Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that someone broke into the shed and took several different fishing items.
May 26, answered a call on Yellow Pine Circle in reference to battery. A complainant stated that there was an altercation between acquaintances about a dog.
May 27, answered a call on Sellers Road in reference to battery. The altercation was between a husband and a wife.
May 26, received information from Ocilla Police Department in reference to a child abuse. The Irwin County DFACS and Appling County DFACS are currently investigating a case in reference to three juveniles that live in Appling County.
May 27, answered a call on Oak Ridge Road in reference to a prowler. A complainant stated that her husband, who she is in the process of divorcing, was sneaking around her house.
May 29, answered a call to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 341 with injuries. The injured were transported to Appling ER by Appling EMS for treatment.
May 29, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report an assault that occurred on May 19. The complainant stated that while at a party a subject attacked him with a baseball bat causing a broken bone. The complainant was advised he could ask for a warrant against the offender for aggravated assault.
May 29, answered a call to Bill Morris Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated approximately $2,000.00 worth of farm equipment had been stolen from his property. The complainant stated he believes equipment was taken to a local recycling company. Investigation continues.
May 29, answered a call to Evans Lane in reference to a domestic with a gun involved. An arrest was made for terroristic threats and acts.
May 30, answered a call on Alpine Drive in reference to battery. The altercation was between acquaintances.
May 30, a routine traffic stop on West Tollison Street resulted in the arrest of Jonathan E. Hewett, 30, of Baxley. Hewett was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana, littering and open container.
May 31, answered a call to West River Road in reference to assistance to the Appling EMS. The subject was found to have damage to her residence, also damaged a vehicle when driving it into a storage building. The subject was taken to Appling ER for evaluation.
