Kenneth Ray “Billy” DeLoach, Sr., 73, died Monday, January 10, 2011 in the Serenity Place in Dublin. Mr. DeLoach was a native of Appling County and was born Dec. 3, 1937 to the late Area Linton DeLoach and the late Nettie Elizabeth Baxley DeLoach. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Billy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Appling War Veterans. He was a retired truck driver after 40 years.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and James Douglas of Nashville and Selena and Foster Rowland of Baxley; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Lynn DeLoach of Warner Robbins, Lonnie DeLoach and Dewayne and Valerie DeLoach, all of Baxley; two brothers, Sheriff Benny DeLoach of Baxley and Vernon DeLoach of Hazlehurst; 10 grandchildren: Matthew Hall, Kevin Walton, Kristen Walton, Randy DeLoach, Caleb DeLoach, Michael Newsome, Andrew DeLoach, Katie Harden, Jadyn DeLoach and Reagan DeLoach and one great-grandchild, Grayson McMillan.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at Zion Baptist Church with the Revs. Virgil Carter and Wayne Williamson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ricky DeLoach, Linton DeLoach, Benji DeLoach, Jimmy Crosby, Michael Beecher, Michael Watson, Dean Collins and Ted Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Appling War Veterans.
Musical selections were rendered by Shannon Davis, Floyd Hunter and David Williams.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
