The Boy Scouts of Troop 472 recently traveled to the North Carolina Mountains. They visited the Cataloochee Valley in the Smokey Mountains National Park.
Prior to the establishment of the park, over 1500 people lived in the valley. The scouts visited the historical building that remains from the early settlement.
They also drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway where they took a three-mile hike atop Black Balsam Knob.
Scouts who attended were Logan Elliott, Paul Myrick, Michael Williamson, Romey Sikes, Bradley Armstrong, Ashby Nail, Sam Tolson, KJ Courson, Drew Tabor, Cody Tabor, Wyatt Nail and William Carelock. Adults were Everett Lewis, Jerome Sikes, Dottie Dyal and Matt Jones.
