This is my response to Mr. Page’s article.
Responds to letter
Mr. Page, you are exactly correct about the community knowing all the facts. Each person should know that my brother got in an altercation with you in high school, which ensured he would not receive perfect attendance for twelve years. I believe you each received a one-day suspension because of the behavior...now that we have those facts.
Let’s continue because I was there that morning. The events of that morning are never far from my thoughts. The scenarios that could have played out the morning of February 19 are innumerable. The death of a Marine and my brother did not have to be the end of the “morning”. There is no one who can justify the behavior exhibited by the Appling County Sheriff’s Department or the Georgia State Patrol.
James served his country because he felt it was his duty to fight for our freedom and his life was taken because he fought demons we know nothing of. I begged to go to my brother only to be told no. Instead officers stood and watched as a young man suffering with PTSD was gunned down. My heart is broken for my family, his friends, and the men who supposedly protect us. I feel so much safer…don’t you Mr. Page?

I have read Mrs. Dixon's article and I have read Mr. Page's Article. I first of all want to say I grieve for the Dixon family. I feel much sorrow for them and sympathy and prayers are sent their way. Mr. Page, though, did not attack the Dixon family at all. He simply said that people should wait on facts and should support our elected officials. Simple as that. So, for mrs. dixon to bring up a small altercation in high school has no merit. But, I do understand that the family is hurting, but Mr. Page's article was completely respectful and should serve as a lesson to us all.
