The Appling County Pirates (23-1 overall, 15-0 Region 2AA) remain atop the latest Georgia Coaches AA Poll with fellow region member Pierce County Bears (18-5, 11-3) falling to sixth.
During the past week the Pirates defeated region foe Toombs County (4-17, 1-11) 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday, April 17. The Pirates then lost their first game of the season to the Ware County Gators (15-7, 9-1 2A-AAAA) 5-10 on Wednesday, April 18. The Pirates finished the week by defeating McIntosh County Academy (5-17, 1-13) 15-0 in five innings on Friday, April 20.
The Pirates will finish their region 2AA schedule this week with Senior night as they host Brantley County (12-9, 8-5) on Friday April 27 at 6:00 p.m. The Pirates defeated the Herons 6-2 on March 27.
The Pirates final regular season game will be in Savannah against Calvary Day (15-7, 9-1 3A-A) on Saturday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m. The Pirates defeated the Cavaliers 8-3 on April 14.
ACHS Seniors Are Going BLACK and Not BACK!
Appling County High School’s (ACHS) Pirate baseball team will be honoring the senior players this Friday (April 27th). Senior recognition will begin at 5:15 pm and the game will start at 6:00 pm. The seniors are requesting a BLACK OUT to support the team, so put on your best black attire and join ACHS as we cheer these fine young men to another Pirate Win! Another special event sponsored by ACHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be the hosting their 1st annual ‘Sermon on the Mound’ event. This event begins immediately following the Pirate’s baseball game vs Brantley County. Admission to the Pirate baseball game is $5.00 for adults. All students will be admitted FREE to this game and are encouraged to stay for the Sermon on the Mound. Special guest speaker for the night will be Steve Glosson, Youth Pastor at Southside Baptist Church in Hazlehurst, Georgia. Everyone is invited to attend.
