Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Apr. 14, answered a call to Highway 121 in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had stolen twelve of his fishing poles, rods and reels from his boat that was parked at his residence.
Apr. 15, answered a call to Barney Lewis Road in reference to a child custody dispute. A father of child stated he had visitation rights and the mother of the child tried to take the child from him.
Apr. 15, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated $80.00 in currency was stolen from her wallet, while she was asleep in her home. The complainant stated possible suspect was a family member.
Apr. 15, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to animal control. A complainant stated her neighbor’s Pittbull dogs are chasing her horses.
Apr. 15, answered a call to VFW Club in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated his soon to be ex-wife had damaged his vehicle. The wife left the scene before officer arrived.
Apr. 15, met with the complainant at the Appling County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a child custody incident. A complainant stated that the mother of their child was 10-13 minutes late bringing their child back to him.
Apr. 15, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) broke into the residence and stole a water heater valued at $400.00.
Apr. 16, answered a call to Avery Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person(s) entered her residence and took a pistol valued at $350.00. The pistol was entered into GCIC. Investigation continues.
Apr. 16, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to a two-vehicle accident. The Appling County EMS responded and took injured to Appling Healthcare Emergency Room for treatment.
Apr. 16, answered a call on Daisy Lane in reference to a stolen wallet. A complainant stated that she left the room and when she returned her wallet was missing out of her purse.
Apr. 16, arrest was made on a theft that occurred on Michael Lake Road, Patterson. Dawn Elaine Rowland, 36, of Blackshear, and Melvin Shep Steedley, 51, of Blackshear. Rowland and Steedley were both charged with theft by taking.
Apr. 17, answered a call to Surrson Street in reference to unruly juvenile. A complainant stated she was awarded custody of the juvenile, but he refuses to obey her. She wishes for the custody of the juvenile to be taken away. The juvenile is seventeen years of age.
Apr. 18, answered a call on Thornton Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that three females were gathering up items from her barn and throwing the items in the back of their truck. Further investigation led to the subjects being stopped and identified. The subjects were found with scrap metal on their truck. Citations were issued to the subjects and the metal was returned to the owner.
Apr. 18, answered a call on Blackshear Highway in reference to a fire. Someone had set a bush on fire on the side of the roadway.
Apr. 18, answered a call on David Carter Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated that there have been threatening messages and phone calls made because several items were taken on accident when she moved out of her mother-in-law’s residence.
Apr. 19, answered a call on Oscar Tippins Road in reference to a fight. A complainant found a white male lying in the roadway with blood on his head. The subject found lying in the roadway stated that he had been in an altercation and had jumped out of the vehicle. The subject was transported to the Appling Healthcare Emergency Room for treatment.
Apr. 19, answered a call to Bill Morris Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated several items valued at $1975.00 were taken from his barn. Investigation continues.
Apr. 19, answered a call in reference to a theft on Lennox Road. A complainant stated that a Smith and Wesson 40-caliber handgun was missing from the residence. Investigation continues.
Apr. 19, answered a call on City Circle Road in reference to a criminal trespass incident. A complainant stated that the offender has been causing a disturbance and also threatened to break the complainant’s leg. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate.
