Beatrice Wallace-Vail, 74, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Appling County Healthcare System. She was born on September 20, 1937 to the late Roger P. and Rebecca Young Wallace in Springfield. Beatrice worked several years at Wayne County School system as a cook in the cafeteria and later did domestic work for P.D. Griffin, Stanley Stadnick and the Bennett families. She was a member of St. James Holiness Church in Screven. Beatrice was preceded in death by both parents, Roger and Rebecca Wallace; her loving husband, Leroy Vail; a daughter, JoAnn Ellis Jenkins; two sisters, Dorothy M. Dixon and Theresa Rawls; three brothers, Robert, Horace and Gary Wallace and a grandson, Jeffrey DeLoach.
Survivors include, two daughters, Yolanda (Robert) Gibbs, Baxley and Barbara (Rick) DeLoach, Patterson; two sons, Donald (Doris) Vail of Screven and Allen Vail, Jesup; one sister, Earnestine (Harry) McRae of Screven; one brother, Gregory Wallace of Screven; five god children, NaTasha Mitchell, Tammy Malone, Enise, Brent Fussell and Pearl Williams; (13) grandchildren; (14) great-grandchildren; (two) great-great-grandchildren; her extended families the Griffins, Standwicks and the Bennetts, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 30, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 31, at Greater St. James Holiness Church in Screven, with interment in the Screven City Cemetery.
Final arrangements were entrusted to Royal Funeral Home, Inc., of Jesup.
