Jimmy Lee Woods, 68, of Surrency, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in Carl Vinson Medical Center in Dublin. Jimmy was born June 16, 1943 in Chatham County to the late Lee and Nellie Strickland Woods. He had resided in Ailey for the past 12 years. He worked as a self-employed transport company and was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Woods was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Woods Kauger; two sisters, Dorothy W. Treadaway and Vera W. Robinson; and a granddaughter, Harley Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Belinda Nolan Woods of Ailey; two daughters, Victoria Scott of Toombs County and Nellie Woods of Montgomery County; two sons, Joseph L. Woods of San Diego, CA and Andrew (wife, Kelli) Woods of Atlanta; one step-daughter, Nichole Nolan; one sister, Angie Lindsey of Surrency; and three brothers, Jack Woods of Vidalia, Billy Woods of Newnan and Benny Woods of Baxley also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. March 24 at David E. Miles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Hutcheson and the Rev. Phillip O’Steen officiating. Eulogy was given by Jack Woods. Interment followed in Woods Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jack Woods, Benny Woods, Derrick Overstreet, Billy Woods, Greg Treadaway and Neal Burke.
Musical selections were rendered by Cindy Morris.
