Appling Christian Academy’s season record improved to 5 and 2 with a win this past Friday against region opponent, the Open Bible Warriors from Valdosta. The Warriors took an early lead scoring twice in the first inning of play.
The Eagles failed to score in their half of the frame going in order. Junior pitcher, Rex Cox settled in over the next 3 and a third innings only giving up two hits and allowing just two additional runs. Andrew Phillips would come to the mound in relief with one out in the fifth inning and would not allow any addition runs for the visiting Warriors. The scoring for the Eagles would begin in the second inning of play with one run scored. The Eagles scored a second run in the third and would move ahead to stay in the fourth inning with four runs scored. The final score would be ACA Eagles six and the Warriors of Open Bible four. Rex Cox was the winning pitcher for the Eagles. The offense would come from several Eagles with two hits and two RBI for Andrew Phillips, two hits and one RBI for Bryce Livingston, one hit for Brandon Horton, one RBI on a ground out for Dallas Johnson, one hit and one RBI for Zach Carter and One hit and one RBI for Corey Reagin.
The Eagles will travel this Friday to Hampton to take on the Bible Baptist Eagle for a region match up. They have already faced Bible Baptist earlier in the season and won that contest.
