Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Mar. 17, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to an accidental shooting. The subject stated while cleaning his pistol he shot himself in the hand. LifeStar flew the subject to Memorial Hospital in Savannah for further treatment.
Mar. 17, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to a DOA. Jackie Stanley, 47, of Baxley, was found unresponsive by a friend. The coroner was contacted and the case was turned over to the coroner for further investigation and to determine cause of death.
Mar. 19, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a known subject had taken from her residence without her permission an Oldsmobile Cutlass. Investigation continues.
Mar. 19, answered a call to County Farm Extension in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that he had found that brake lines to his vehicle had been cut. Investigation continues.
Mar. 21, answered a call to County Farm Extension in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated someone had stolen her mailbox and post.
Mar. 19, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of financial card transaction fraud. Investigation led to secure warrants for six counts of financial transaction fraud and the arrest of Joshua Lewis Spell, 26, of Baxley.
Mar. 20, answered a call to Williams Drive in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had taken a 2009 string weed trimmer and a 22-inch 5HP lawn mower, valued at $618.00. These items that were taken belonged to Appling County Road Department.
Mar. 20, an investigation by the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, of harassing text messages, led to the arrest of Byron Lawrence Allen, 30, of Hazlehurst. Allen was charged with two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Mar. 21, a complainant came to the Appling Co. Sheriff’s Office to report a theft on Nail Mobley Road. The complainant stated family members had taken her grandfather’s furnishings that were willed to her family and all she wanted was a rocking chair that they would not return.
Mar. 23, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated a subject had been following her and her daughter and were in fear of their lives. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge in order to take legal action against the subject.
Mar. 23, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report harassing communication. The complainant stated a nineteen-year-old was enticing her fourteen year old by text messaging her.
Mar. 23, answered a call to San Marco Drive in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated a subject came to her residence trying to start a fight. The subject had left the residence before the officer arrived.
