Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Mar. 1, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft that occurred on Piney Bluff Road. The complainant stated unknown person(s) had taken two Jack Russell/Fiest puppies, valued at $600.00.
Sheriff’s department gives account of incidents
Mar. 2, answered a call to Cook Street in reference to a domestic dispute. Two subjects had a verbal dispute, which led to an altercation. The offender had left the residence before the officer arrived.
Mar. 2, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. The complainant stated someone had stolen his deer stand, and it was found at a local pawnshop. Investigation continues.
Mar. 3, answered a call to Blackshear Highway in reference to a possible suicide attempt. The officers found a bleeding subject on the ground at the residence. The Appling EMS transported the subject to Appling Healthcare System, where it was determined the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
Mar. 3, answered a call to Sam Miles Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had stolen his box blade, valued at $1,000.00. Investigation continues.
Mar. 4, answered a call to Holt Rentz Road in reference to a juvenile problem. A mother stated her two teenage boys would not do what she says. The DFAC’s was notified and is handling the case.
Mar. 6, answered a call to Hill Top Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown subject took two yard lights, valued at $50.00. Investigation continues.
Mar. 5, answered a call to Walker Lane in reference to a domestic. A husband and a wife had an altercation, which led to their four-year-old child being burnt by grease from the stove. The child was transported by Appling EMS to Appling ER for treatment. Misty Steedly, 33, of Baxley, and Roger Lori Sutton, 41, of Baxley, were both arrested and charged with two counts each of cruelty to children.
Mar. 5, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a missing person. The complainant stated his brother-in-law had been missing for several days and was concerned. A BOLO for a welfare check on the individual was sent.
Mar. 6, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to a dispute. A complainant stated she was behind on her rent and was afraid that her landlord was going to take some of her personal items. The complainant was referred to the magistrate office in reference to a civil matter.
Mar. 7, answered a call to Doris Street in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated a subject had kicked in the door to his residence to gain entry. Found missing was a single shot 20-gauge shotgun. The neighbor identified a possible suspect. Investigation continues.
Mar. 7, answered a call to Pat Lewis Road in reference to a burglary. Entry to residence was gained by breaking out a window. Nothing appeared to be missing at the time of arrival. Fingerprints were taken at entry point. Investigation continues.
Mar. 7, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a theft by conversion incident. The complainant stated a subject agreed to lease his truck and trailers to a subject for an agreed amount of money per week. The subject has not paid as agreed and has left the truck at a service station in another state that is charging $100.00 per day for storage fees. The complainant was advised to go to the magistrate judge to press charges.
Mar. 8, answered a call to Iris Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had disputes and she wanted to leave her husband.
Mar. 8, answered a call to Northwood Drive in reference to harassment. A complainant stated her ex-boyfriend continues to call and harass her.
Mar. 9, answered a call to Hutcheson Road in reference to a juvenile problem. A mother and a son had a dispute, which led to an altercation. The Appling DFACS worker was notified and the case was turned over to them for further investigation.
Mar. 9, answered a call to State Route Highway 15 in reference to a two-vehicle accident. Injured was taken to Appling Healthcare System for evaluation by the Appling EMS.
Mar. 9, answered a call to Morris Landing in reference to a vehicle racing and discharging a firearm on the sandbar. Christopher Allen Hutchins, 23, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with DUI, Sheldon Bernard Knight, 22, was arrested and charged with firearm possession by convicted felon.
Mar. 9, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South in reference to a missing person. A mother stated she had not heard from her daughter in several days or made contact with any friends or family. The mother contacted the sheriff’s office the next day to state she had found her daughter.
Mar. 10, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report child abuse. A complainant stated he had picked up his child from visitation rights. When the child was showering the complainant found extensive bruising on the child. DFACS was notified, and the child was taken to Appling ER for evaluation.
Mar. 10, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated a subject came to her residence and asked subject to leave several times but refused. The complainant then shot the subjects vehicle with a shotgun and the subject left.
Mar. 10, answered a call to Doris Street in reference to a theft. A complainant stated $540.00 was missing from his residence. Investigation continues.
Mar. 10, answered a call to Golden Isle East in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated an unknown person(s) had ridden and damaged her four-wheeler. Investigation continues.
Mar. 10, answered a call to Clifton Crosby Road in reference to a civil matter. A complainant stated a subject had what he believed to be his deceased father’s pickup on his rollback truck. The complainant wanted him to prove ownership of the vehicle.
Mar. 10, answered a call to Gardenia Circle in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had a dispute .The wife wants the husband to stay away due to abuse. The wife was advised to see the magistrate judge.
Mar. 11, answered a call to Golden Isle West in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated a female subject had taken the locks off of his front and back doors and broke a mirror in his residence causing extensive damage.
Mar. 11, answered a call to Highway 341 West in reference to a theft. A complainant stated her debit card had been stolen and she thought a family member had taken it. Investigation continues.
Mar. 11, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated she and her husband are in the process of a divorce and he continues to harass her.
Mar. 12, answered a call to West Pecan Street/Surrency in reference to a domestic dispute. Both parties stated they were having a dispute. One of the subjects stated he would leave the residence for the night and try to work things out at a later date.
Mar. 12, answered a call to Yellow Pine Circle in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had stolen his cutting tool, valued at approximately $300.00. Investigation continues.
Mar. 13, answered a call to J R Harper Road in reference to damage to property.
Unknown person pushed over a stop sign with a truck. The Appling County Shop put the sign back in correct position.
Mar. 13, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a domestic dispute. The complainant stated her mother-in-law had made threats toward her.
Mar. 15, answered a call to Phillipi Church Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A mother stated her son had come to her residence making threats toward her and started breaking dishes, which led to the arrest of Bobby Shane Wilcox, 34, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass.
Mar. 15, answered a call to Blackshear Highway in reference to juvenile problem.
Reported were two juveniles that were fighting at the Children’s home. One juvenile was arrested and transported to the Claxton Youth Detention Center.
Mar. 15, answered a call to Herrington Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had a dispute with wife doing damage to her car, and doing damage to the inside of the residence. The wife had left the residence.
Mar. 15, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South in reference to harassing text messages. Several female students of the Appling Christian Academy had received text messages containing sexual suggestions from an unknown subject. Investigation continues.
Mar. 16, answered a call to Buck Williams Road in reference to juvenile problems. A mother and a son were having problems.
Mar. 16, answered a call to Clemons Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person went into the residence and took a 32-inch flat screen television Investigation continues.
