Bessie Thelma O’Berry Heath Arnold
Bessie Thelma O’Berry Heath Arnold, 86 of St. Mary’s, passed away February 25, 2011 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida.
She was born April 6, 1924 to Marshall Gordon and Mary Dykes O’Berry in Appling County. Bessie had been a resident of St. Mary’s since 1959. She was employed and retired from Kraft Bag. She was an active member of the Ruth Sunday-School Class and First Baptist Church of Kingsland.
She is survived by two children, Linda Lanette Johnson (John) of Dublin and James Herchel Heath, Sr. (Elaine) of Kingsland; three grandchildren, Jay J. Johnson, Tobie McKinney (Steve) of Kingsland, James Herchel Heath, Jr. of Kingsland; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin O’Berry of Baxley and Wade O’Berry of Folkston; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Arnold.
The family received friends Sunday, February 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Shepard Funeral Home. Funeral services followed at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Vernon Dillingham officiating. Burial followed in Millikin Cemetery in Surrency.
