The following are highlights of incidents that were handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department.
On Feb. 21 at approximately 12:45, answered a call to a Colonial Drive address in reference to a criminal trespass and assault. On arrival the officers discovered that a boyfriend had forced his way into the resident’s home, and then physically assaulted her. A nearby neighbor hearing the disturbance called 911 for help. The offender was taken into custody without further incident. Arrested in this incident was Rashuan McArthur, 21, of Hazlehurst, on charges of one count each of criminal trespass and aggravated assault.

Feb. 21 at approx. 9:43 p.m., met with the resident at a Pine Street Extension address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had removed her daughter’s bicycle from the back patio. The bike is described as a girl’s 24-inch Huffy and is purple in color.
Feb. 22 at 9:01 a.m., met with the school resource officer (SRO) at the high school in reference to some drugs being seized. On arrival the SRO told officers that he had seized some marijuana off of a student. A student, James Patrick McTier, 17, of Baxley, was arrested on one count possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
Feb. 22 at approx. 10:33 p.m., answered a call to Ivey Street in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had entered her home and removed a Sony Play Station 3 console, three Play Station games, a turtle beach headset and base, along with an assortment of jewelry items from a jewelry box. The jewelry items included three wedding bands, a pink ice ring, a red ruby ring, a baby ring, watch, bracelets, a diamond ring with diamonds on the side, earrings and various other rings.
Feb. 23 at approx. 10:28 a.m., met with a complainant at a Bay Street address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown entered a storage area and removed four chrome rims, a washing machine, approx. 100 records, a Phillips stereo and a brass vanity.
Feb. 25 at approx. 7:20 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer who had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Christy Diane Teston, 34, of Baxley, on charges of one count theft by shoplifting.
Feb. 26 at approx. 10:18 a.m., met with a complainant at the police department in reference to stolen and forged checks. On arrival the complainant told officers that a subject had forged and passed two checks on his account. Arrested in connection with this incident was Stephen Carroll Johnson, 26, of Baxley, on charges of one count each of theft by taking and forgery in the first degree.
Feb. 26 at approx. 6:19 p.m., answered a call to a fight at Murphy’s Oil. On arrival officers observed a male cussing loudly and making threats toward another. Upon officers detaining the subject to inquire about the argument, discovered the subject to be intoxicated, and after a pat down seized a small bag of marijuana from his person. Arrested in connection with this incident was Andi Isaac Breedlove, 25, of Hazlehurst, on charges of one count each of pedestrian under the influence, disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
Feb. 29 at approx. 7:02 p.m., met with the resident at a Donnie Lane address apartment nine in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers person(s) unknown had gained entry into his apartment, by busting out a window. The resident told officers that the person(s) had rummaged through a cabinet, strewing items all over the place, and took a small amount of change. After a brief investigation, Rebecca Leigh Mann, 27, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with one count burglary.
Mar. 5 at approx. 9:47 a.m., met with a complainant at a City Circle Road address in reference to damage to property. On arrival the complainant told officers that his ex-girlfriend had busted out the back glass of his 2007 Chevy Impala and his girlfriend’s 1999 Ford Mustang. Arrested in connection with this incident was Danielle Towery, 21, of Baxley, on charges of two counts criminal damage to property in the second degree.
Mar. 6 at approx. 9:05 p.m., responded to an alarm going off at Cedarwood. On arrival officers noticed the back door had been forced open. Officers secured the building until the key holder arrived. According to the key holder nothing was reported missing.
Mar. 9 at approx. 9:30 a.m., met with a complainant at Wal-Mart in reference to a theft or mislaid property incident. On arrival the complainant told officers that she had left her wallet in the cart when she put it up, and when she went back it was gone. The complainant stated a buggy boy had found the wallet and returned it to her. Everything was in it except the money. After reviewing the surveillance tapes and after questioning the buggy boy, officers discovered that he had taken the money out of the wallet before returning it to its owner. Mondreceous A. Dasher, 20, of Baxley, was charged with one count theft of lost or mislaid property in connection with this incident.
Mar. 9 at approx. 10:39 a.m., met with a resident at a Wood Street address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that while she was gone person(s) unknown entered her home and removed a 32-inch RCA flat screen television from her living room.
Mar. 12 at approx. 5:50 a.m., met with the resident at an East Allen Street address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the complainant told officers that while she was asleep her ex-boyfriend broke into her home and the noise woke her up, she told him she was calling the police at which time he left. A short time later she was woken up again, and discovered that he had returned, and was coming in the window. The complainant stated she attempted to call for help, but he snatched the phone from her and went out the door. Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Jamall Walker, 22, of a Hopps Street address on one count of obstruction/hindering emergency call and burglary. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Walker is urged to contact the nearest law enforcement agency.
Mar. 12 at approx. 9:16 p.m., met with a worker at Taco Bell in reference to a theft. On arrival the worker told officers that there was a group of young people in the dining room area, and after they left, they noticed one of wall paintings was missing.
