Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Appling County Recreation Complex in reference to a dispute. Two subjects got into a verbal dispute. The team would not allow the subject to get on the bus she came on. A cab was called and the subject took cab back to Waycross.
Feb. 26, answered a call to Daisy Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a subject came to her yard stole some firewood and destroyed a burn barrel.
Feb. 26, answered a call to Griffis Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had a verbal altercation, which led to a physical altercation. The husband was arrested and charged with simple assault.
Feb. 27, answered a call to Highway 144 in reference to a fire. A subject received a permit to burn. The fire jumped the firebreak and burned an abandoned building. Highway 144 and Baxley Fire Department responded and put the fire out.
Feb. 27, the Appling County Deputies assisted Georgia State Patrol with an accident on Zoar Road. No injuries were reported.
Feb. 27, answered a call to Griffin Road in reference to child custody. An ex-wife stated ex-husband did not bring children home on the appointed time from his visitation.
Feb. 28, answered a call to Dyal School in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person took a yellow Boa canoe from his residence. Investigation continues.
Feb. 28, answered a call to Red Dot Motel in reference to a domestic dispute. An ex-husband and wife had an altercation. The wife left the residence.
Feb. 28, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to threats. A complainant stated she was pregnant and father of baby does not want her to have the baby.
Feb. 28, answered a call to Hatch Parkway in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated structure building appeared to have been hit with an excavator during the construction of U.S.1 South. Investigation continues.
March 1, answered a call to Bud Miles Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated she found pry marks on her door where someone attempted to pry it open.
March 1, answered a call to Daisy Lane in reference to a fight. Several subjects were involved in a fight and one of the subjects was transported by EMS to Appling ER.
March 1, answered a call to Mae Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his shelter were several tools valued at $510.00. Investigation continues.
March 2, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant’s boyfriend took her child without her permission. The boyfriend was located. Jose Lepe Gonzalez, age 29, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with VGCSA/cocaine, driving while license withdrawn, and possession of marijuana.
March 2, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a financial card fraud. The complainant stated credit card company notified her of charges that were made to account, which she stated she had not made. Investigation continues.
March 3, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a family member took her change purse with twenty or thirty dollars in it. The complainant was referred to magistrate office if charges are to be pursued.
March 3, answered a call to Stone Road in reference to a dog bite. A complainant stated her neighbor’s three dogs came to her yard, killed five of her Jack Russell puppies and bit her on the arm and hand.
March 4, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report harassing phone calls. The complainant stated subject continues to call and text him making threats. The complainant will take out a restraining order through the magistrate court.
