Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Feb. 23,answered a call on Red Dot Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that someone had taken her unemployment check out of her mailbox. The complainant believes she is aware of who took the check.
Feb. 23, answered a call to Alpine Drive in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated her ex-husband continues to make threatening calls and text messages to her.
Sheriff Deloach gives update
Feb. 24, answered a call on Pickett Road in reference to unruly juvenile/obstruction. Upon arrival, officers found the juvenile to have several marks displayed on his body. At this time, the juvenile ran from the officers. Once he was apprehended, he was taken to Appling Healthcare for treatment of the marks. The Juvenile and DFACS case workers came and the case was turned over to them.
Feb. 25, met with the complainant at the sheriff’s office and she stated that she is having civil issues with her soon to be ex-husband in reference to a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a domestic dispute. The victim stated she and an acquaintance had a verbal dispute, which led to an altercation, and led to the arrest of Reginald McLain, 48, of Baxley. McLain was charged with disorderly conduct.
Feb. 25, answered a call on Oscar Tippins Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that a family member had taken her credit card and made a purchase at Lowes. Investigation continues.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Davis Landing Road in reference to a theft. Taken from a residence was a 42-inch Vizio T.V. Investigation continues.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Gilbert Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. A mother stated her son became violent and uncontrollable. Michael Issac Norris, 19, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Feb. 25, answered a call to Torrance Road in reference to a burglary. The renter of the residence found the back door completely destroyed, and a mirror inside had been broken. Nothing appeared to be missing. Investigation continues.
Feb. 26, answered a call to Highway 15 south in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from her residence were several pieces of jewelry valued at $725.00. The complainant gave the officer a name of a possible suspect. Investigation led to the arrest of Herbert Daniels, 30, of Lyons. Daniels was charged with burglary and theft.
Feb. 26, answered a call to Miles Landing Road in reference to a domestic. A husband and wife had an altercation, which led to the arrest of Herman Russell Murray, 40, of Bristol. Murray was charged with simple battery, criminal trespass and cruelty to children.
Feb. 27, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant, who works for a financial company, stated his company had foreclosed on a property here in Appling County. Taken from the foreclosed property was an above ground pool and a heat pump valued at approximately $4,000.00.
Feb. 27, answered a call to East Martin Street/Surrency in reference to a domestic. Two subjects had a verbal disagreement. One of the subjects agreed to leave the residence willingly.
Feb. 28, answered a call to Crowder Street in reference to juvenile problem. The father of the juvenile stated his son is slipping out of his bedroom window at night and returning in the early morning hours. A juvenile officer was contacted to meet with the family.
Feb. 28, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report threats. The complainant stated a subject had threatened him and wants to do harm to him.
Feb. 28, answered a call to Crosby Chapel Church Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that a subject was seen on his property taking scrap metal from his property and loading it on to his truck. Investigation led to the arrest of William Corey Orvin, 29, of Baxley. Orvin was charged with criminal trespass and theft by taking.
Feb. 29, answered a call to Clifton Crosby Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant and her husband had a dispute, which led to the arrest of Hank Hand, 38, of Baxley. Hand was charged with disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana.
Feb. 29, answered a call to Altman Road in reference to trespass. A complainant stated she thought someone was in her residence, because all the doors were open. When officers arrived no evidence could be found that anyone was in her residence. The complainant was interviewed as to the verification of what had been told. Investigation revealed this was a false report.
March 1, answered a call to Veal Camp Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated a subject pried open the front door of his residence, gained entry and took several items valued at $150.00. Investigation led to the arrest of Rebecca Leigh Mann, 27, of Baxley. Mann was charged with burglary.
March 1, answered a call to L. W. Hutchinson Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated an unknown subject had driven by the residence and shot a front plate-glass window and storm door. Investigation continues.
March 1, answered a call to Deens Landing Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated his ex-girlfriend had continued to call him on his cell phone.
March 1, answered a call to Piney Bluff Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated her ex-boyfriend came to her residence uninvited. The boyfriend was advised, by the responding officer, not to return to residence.
