They will also play in Tattnall County (4-1, 1-1) on Tuesday, March 6 in a Region 2AA matchup and finish the week at region foe Pierce County (5-1, 2-0) on Friday, March 9.
All three games are scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

The Appling County Pirates defeated neighboring Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets 4-0 on Friday, March 2.

Pirates Beat Rivals Wayne County 6-1
The Appling County Pirates and neighboring Wayne County Yellow Jackets went head-to head in a non-region contest Thursday, March 1. Pirates won the game 6-1.
The Pirates would start Junior Josh Deen on the mound. Deen pitched around trouble in the first inning and got out of the trouble with only one run scoring. He only allowed three hits and one walk in five full innings. Mathew Shumans came on in the top of the sixth and shut down the Jackets while giving a walk and a hit. Jeremy Ammons finished the game with a perfect seventh.
The Pirates went to bat in the bottom of the first down by a run. The Pirates quickly jumped on Davis Townsend, the Jacket hurler, with two runs to take the lead 2-1. After one out, Jeremy Ammons singled. Byron Buxton followed with a double to center field to push Ammons to third. Kyle Miller lined to left field. As Ammons tagged from third to score, the ball was dropped by the left fielder and all runners were safe. Guner Sellers continued his hot hitting as he singled to left field scoring Buxton.
The Pirates jumped on the hit parade again in the second as Josh Barber doubled with one out. Barber scored on a single to center by Ammons. Buxton reached on a fielder’s choice. Miller followed that with a run scoring double over the head of the left fielder. Devin Causey lined into the gap in right center to drive home Miller with the fifth run of the night. Score after three was 5-1 in favor of the home team.
The Pirates added a single run in he fifth and cruised to a 6-1 victory.
Pirates Open Region Play with Win 9-1 Over Vidalia
The Appling Pirates took on the Vidalia Indians in region 2AA action Tuesday, February 28. The Pirates won the game 9-1 behind a strong pitching performance by Senior hurler Josh Barber. He allowed only one hit on the night and one earned run. The Indians’ only hit came in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Barber is now 2-0 on the year with a miniscule 0.68 ERA on the young season. He has pitched 10 1/3 innings and only allowed two hits and one run for the year.
The game began as a pitcher’s dual as both pitchers got the first six outs easily. In the top of the third the Pirates finally broke through and scored three times in the frame.
The inning started with a walk to Gage Patton. An error by the Indian pitcher put two runners on with no outs. Justin Javis followed with a two-run double to the left field corner. After an intentional walk to Byron Buxton, Kyle Miller delivered an RBI single to left to plate the third run of the game for the Pirates.
The Pirates added two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings to stretch the lead to 7-0. The Pirates added two more insurance runs in the seventh to take a comfortable lead over the Indians 9-0. Barber started the seventh and gave up a leadoff single. He would get one out in the inning before giving way to Mathew Shumans in relief. The Indians would score the run on a wild pitch with two outs in the inning. Shumans rallied to get the last out to preserve the game.
