Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Feb. 3, answered a call to Pleasant Grove Church Road in reference to a civil matter. A complainant and family member had a dispute over deceased family member’s mobile home and shelter.
Feb. 3, answered a call to Crosby Chapel Church Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his property was scrap metal valued at approximately $200.00. Investigation continues.
Feb. 4, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to threats being made. A complainant stated his son had made threats toward him. The son had left the residence before the officer arrived.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Lynn Road in reference to reckless driver. The driver subject was located at a residence where a party was in progress. The subjects, along with the owner of the residence, were written citations. The owner of the residence was written a citation for contributing to a minor (alcohol), and driver was written a citation for reckless driving.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Kennedy Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Acquaintances had a dispute; one of the subjects had left the residence before the officers arrived.
Feb. 5, answered a call to South Main Extension, of Surrency, in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had a verbal dispute.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Scott Drive in reference to threats. A complainant stated his wife made threats towards his life and damaged the inside of the residence.
Feb. 5, answered a call to Donnie Lewis Lane in reference to sexual harassment. The complainant stated a subject approached her about sex, she stated she was not interested. The subject has continued to approach her. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge if charges are to be filed.
Feb. 5, answered a call to A P Hunter Road in reference to a juvenile problem. A complainant stated her eight-year-old child had been very unruly and she had disciplined him. The Appling DFACS and juvenile justice were notified.
Feb. 6, a routine traffic stop on Moody Street resulted in the arrest of Chadwick Bell, 34, of Vidalia. Bell was charged with simple possession marijuana.
Feb. 6, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report fraud identity. The complainant stated he filed his income tax and the IRS reported back to him that someone had already filed his taxes. Investigation continues.
Feb. 7, answered a call to Pat Lewis Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown subject had cut the lock to his work trailer and took approximately 20-feet of copper ground cables and a rolling ground dolly. Investigation led to the arrest of James Timothy Carter, 40, of Alma. Carter was charged with theft by taking.
Feb. 8, answered a call to Elizabeth Circle in reference to an unruly juvenile. A complainant stated her thirteen-year-old son got into trouble at school by having drug related objects and continues to be unruly at home. The complainant was advised to see the juvenile justice officer.
Feb. 8, answered a call to Dairy Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated she and her husband had a verbal dispute, which led to an altercation. The husband agreed to leave the residence for the night. The wife was advised to see the magistrate judge if charges are to be pressed.
Feb. 9, answered a call to Tippins Street in reference to a prowler. A complainant stated she saw two subjects trying to break into her shed. Investigation continues.
Feb. 9, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated her boyfriend had stolen a 380-pistol, diamond ring and diamond necklace from her. Investigation continues.
Feb. 9, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report threats. The complainant stated her ex-boyfriend had texted her stating he was in Tennessee and on his way to kill her.
