The Appling County Pirates (13-10 overall, 8-8 Region 2AA) ended the regular season defeating the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets (8-17, 3-13) 65-55 on Friday, February 10. Leading the way for the Pirates were Ibn Sumner 20 points, Kevin Johnson 11 points, Ronald Handsome 10 points, C.J. Alexander eight points, Leshawn Mobley six points, Heisman Johnson four points, Anthony Rayner four points and Travis McNeil two points.
The Pirates second game of the week had the Pirates travel to face the Wayne County Yellow Jackets (13-10, 4-6 Region 2A-AAAA) on Saturday, February 11 with the Pirates losing in overtime 81-82. Leading scorers for the Pirates were Ibn Sumner 36 points, Ronald Handsome 18 points, Kevin Johnson 15 points, C. J. Alexander eight points, Heisman Johnson two points, Leshawn Mobley two points and Travis McNeil two points.
The Pirates end the season in a tie for fifth in the region with Toombs County (10-10, 8-8) and due to tiebreakers will be the number six seed in the Region 2AA tournament.
The Pirates were scheduled to play the number seven seed Brantley County on Tuesday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Toombs County.
