The Appling County Pirates were able to pick up two wins over the past week improving their record to 12-9 overall and 7-8 in Region 2AA play.
The Pirates first game came at home against Toombs County (8-10, 6-8) on Tuesday, January 31 with the Pirates getting the win by a score of 66-61. Leading the way for the Pirates was Ibn Sumner 28 points, Ronald Handsome 13 points, Heisman Johnson eight points, Anthony Rayner seven points, Kevin Johnson six points, Jordan Vann two points and C.J. Alexander two points.
The Pirates second game came on the road against the Pierce County Bears (1-20, 0-14). The Pirates were able to get the win 63-62. Leading scorers were Ibn Sumner 23 points, Roanld Handsome 11 points, C.J. Alexander 10 points, Heisman Johnson eight points, Kevin Johnson four points, Jordan Vann four points and Anthony Rayner three points.
The Pirates will play their final region game at home on Friday against neighboring Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets (7-15, 3-12). The Pirates defeated the Yellow Jackets 52-50 on December 17.
The Pirates will end the regular season against the Wayne County Yellow Jackets (11-10, 3-6 Region 2A-AAAA) on Saturday, February 11. The Pirates defeated the Yellow Jackets 66-53 on December 20.
All Pirates games are scheduled to start after the Lady Pirate games that start at 6:00 p.m.
