Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
On Jan. 25, answered a call to Glory Hole Road in reference to suspicious activity. A log truck was found to be stolen from the City of Baxley. Investigation led to the arrest of Kesha Lynn Meeks, 34, of Baxley, Michael Calvin Meeks, 54, of Baxley, Ronnie Smith, 57 of Hazlehurst, and Ricky Stewart Love, 40, of Hazlehurst. All four subjects have been charged with theft by taking.
Jan. 19, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft that occurred on Carter Cemetery Road. A complainant stated he had several Play Station games that were taken from his house. The complainant stated he believed they were at a local pawnshop. An investigation revealed Bucky Shaun Bruce, 34, of Baxley, had taken the games. Bruce was arrested and charged with theft by taking.
Jan. 21, answered a call to Highway 341 in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated someone cut two master locks off of their gate and replaced it with a lock of their own.
Jan. 21, answered a call to Pineview Avenue in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown subject(s) entered her autos and took several items including a pocketbook. Value of items taken was approximately $1,800.00. Investigation continues.
Jan. 21, answered a call to Alligator Road in reference to threats. A complainant stated a subject had called him and made threats towards him.
Jan. 21, answered a call to Oscar Tippins Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated a subject continues to harass her. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge with reports that have been taken.
Jan. 21, answered a call to Joe Crapps Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated that during bad weather a tree fell on his residence and two of his vehicles.
Jan. 23, answered a call to Davis Landing Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had thrown a brick through the glass door and gained entry to the residence. Investigation continues.
Jan. 23, answered a call to Max Deen Road in reference to damage to property incident. A county dump truck body was caught in the power lines. The power from the lines blew the back tires off of the truck and tore down the power pole and the lines. Satilla REMC was notified.
Jan. 23, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to a dispute. A complainant and subject had an altercation. Ricky Ned Sikes, 54, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Jan. 23, during the execution of a warrant, Jonathan Andrew Turner, 22, of Baxley, was found to be in possession of marijuana. Turner was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, forgery in the first degree, burglary and giving false information.
Jan. 24, answered a call to Pearce Road of Surrency in reference to threats. A complainant stated her fiancé just got out of prison and was making threats towards her and her children.
Jan. 24, answered a call to Hesters Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated his neighbor threw a brick through the window of his residence, because he thought he had killed his dog.
Jan. 24, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report harassment. The complainant stated her ex continues to send harassing text messages. The complainant was advised to save the messages and take report to magistrate judge if action wanted to be taken.
Jan. 24, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to threats. A complainant stated subject made hand gestures toward him simulating firing a gun to the head. The complainant stated subject possibly maybe mentally challenged.
Jan. 24, answered a call to Varnadore Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown subject gained entry to residence by taking a window air condition unit out of window and stole three guns, valued at approximately $1,300.00. Investigation continues.
Jan. 25, answered a call to Lawanna Drive in reference to a theft of a dog. The complainant stated her Beagle dog went missing.
Jan. 26, answered a call to Wayne Jones Road in reference to harassment. The complainant stated a subject has stopped in the neighborhood where his children are playing and making faces at them. The subject was warned to stay away from the children.
Jan. 24, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a financial identity fraud. The complainant stated a credit card company had contacted him in reference to a credit card he had applied for and used. The complainant stated he had not applied for a credit card nor used one. Investigation continues.
Jan. 25, answered a call to Deen’s Landing Road in reference to damage to property. Tables and barbeque grill at Falling Rock Campground was found to be vandalized.
Jan. 27 a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a financial dispute. The complainant stated she loaded 1,386 bales of straw on a subject’s truck and had an agreement with the subject, whom they were to pay her in two weeks, and had not. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge in reference to a civil dispute.
