Glynn Rodney Bass, 73, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. Bass was born Dec. 21, 1938 in Duval County to the late Leonard Leroy Bass and the late Daisy Edna Ryals Bass. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Bass was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, L. H. and Vernon Bass.
Survivors include his wife, Elmira Bass of Baxley; one daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Dale Morris of Nicholls; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Michelle Taylor and Ross and Vanessa Taylor, all of Baxley; one brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Sue Bass of Baxley; five grandchildren: Dustin (Malanda) Johnson, Marah Johnson, Olivia Taylor, Dusty Morris, Brantley (Brooke) Morris; one great-grandchild, Carter Johnson and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Keith Alderman and Mike Redwine officiating. Interment followed in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Doug Bass, Corey Bass, Clint Bass, Brantley Morris, Ritchie Lightsey and David Carter.
Honorary pallbearers were David Reeves, Tim Flood, Mickey and Jean Lewis, Lisa Courson, Butch Barfield, Steve Rigdon, Charlie and Susie Stuckey, Charles and Velma Stone, Alton Johnson, Shane Williams, Fuzzy and Harlene Jones and Kathy and Edsel Mayers.
Musical selections were rendered by Dusty Morris.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
