The Altamaha River Partnership will hold its first annual Big Tom Turkey Contest scheduled for the opening day of turkey season this spring, Saturday, March 24, 2012. This exciting event will be held at the Jeff Davis County Fairgrounds in Hazlehurst from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Each ticket includes lunch and dinner and the ticket stub is eligible to be drawn for over $5,000 in door prizes. Drawings begin at 7:00 p.m. that evening and you must be present to win!
To enter your turkey in the Big Tom Turkey Contest, one bird per ticket to compete for a purse of over $2,500 in cash, trophies and other prizes. Judged by Georgia DNR Rules and Regulations, tickets to this event are available at local Chamber offices in the River Corridor as well as the partnership website www.altamahariver.org

The Altamaha River Partnership was organized in 1998 for the purpose of marketing the Altamaha River to nature-based tourism, and includes the 11 counties that surround the river.
