Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Dec. 30, answered a two-vehicle accident on Deen’s Landing road. No injuries were reported.

Dec. 30, answered a call to McLeod Circle in reference to a theft. A complainant stated he had three red nose Pit Bull dog puppies stolen. The puppies were valued at $150.00 a piece. The complainant only wishes for puppies to be returned.
Dec. 31, answered a call to Dogwood Drive in reference to a golf cart accident. Four juveniles were riding on a golf cart, when one of the juveniles lost footing and fell from the golf cart striking his head on the roadway, resulting in serious injury. The juvenile was taken to the Appling ER and was later transferred to a hospital in Savannah.
Dec. 31, answered a call to Golden Isles East/Surrency in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his business were items, valued at approximately $3,034.00. Arrested was Calvin Matthew Lee, 46, of Baxley, and was charged with theft.
Dec. 31, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to an attempted burglary. A complainant stated unknown person kicked the back door of his residence breaking the door facing, but did not gain entry. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Dec. 31, answered a call to Old Surrency Road in reference to threats. A dispute over a boat with subjects resulted in the arrest of Robbie Shane Smith, 34, of Baxley. Smith was charged with disorderly conduct.
Jan. 1, answered a call to Pine Street Extension in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a safe was missing, and an air condition unit had been removed from the window to gain entry. Investigation continues.
Jan. 1, answered a call to Holt Rentz Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A mother and a son had a verbal dispute, which led to a physical dispute. Both parties were advised of domestic violence law, if either party wanted to press charges.
Jan. 1, answered a call to Carter Bite Landing in reference to theft. A complainant found items that had been stolen from her residence by another subject. Investigation revealed Donnie Lane Beverly had sold items that had been stolen. Donnie Beverly, 24, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
Jan. 1, answered a call to Poor Robin Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and wife had an altercation. Bryant Demetrius Carter, 37, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with battery, family violence.
Jan. 1, answered a call to Mincey Lane in reference to an assault. A complainant stated two males came to his residence and beat him up. Investigation continues.
Jan. 2, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. Missing were two diamond rings, valued at $3,800.00. The complainant stated a family member had sold the rings. The subject that bought the rings was contacted and the rings were returned to the owner for the price the subject paid for the rings. Investigation continues.
Jan. 2, answered a call to Orvin Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from their shop were items, valued at $170.00. The complainant named a possible suspect. Investigation continues.
Jan. 2, answered a call to Clyde Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated her friend slept over for the night and after he left she found several items missing. After investigators met with the friend the complainant came to an agreement with her friend to be reimbursed for items taken.
Jan. 2, answered a call to Red Oak Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated the door to his store had been pried open. Cigarettes and tobacco were taken, valued at $152.00. Investigation continues.
Jan. 3, answered a call to U.S. 1 / Blackwater Creek Bridge in reference to a burglary. A business had work tools stored in a commercial trailer that was broken into where several items, valued at $675.00 was stolen. Benjamin Roy Burton, 37, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with theft.
Jan. 3, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to dog problem. A complainant stated some dogs had killed two of his goats and bitten several others. The complainant was advised he had every right to protect his animals.
Jan. 3, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a missing handbag. The complainant stated she came from the Augusta airport and her handbag was missing containing her debit cards.
Jan. 3, answered a call to Reese Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated she has filed for divorce and her soon to be ex-husband continues to harass and threaten her.
Jan. 3, while on routine patrol on Golden Isles West, Consolation Building, Berries Best and J.M. Miles had been found burglarized. The owners of the businesses were contacted and several air conditioners were found to have been taken, along with several other items. As a result of the investigations a Lennis Lamar Rooks, 20, of Baxley and Steven Michael Penn, 28, of Baxley were both arrested and charged with theft.
Jan. 3, answered a call to Reese Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated she found her home had been ransacked. The furniture was turned upside down, broken dishes, permanent marker written on counter top, shotgun was lying across her son’s bed, and several pictures had been shot with a shotgun. The complainant was advised to get a TPO to keep her soon to be ex-husband away from her and her children. TPO was obtained and served.
Jan. 4, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to theft by deception. A complainant employed at a local convenience store, stated a subject came to the store and bought several items with a check that was no good. The cashier advised the subject to bring the money back to the store by 8:30 p.m. to pay for the items taken. The subject never returned.
Jan. 4, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office and reported that a subject stated he was working for a finance company, and owed a substantial amount of money and made threats. The complainant stated she did not owe them money. Please beware this was a scam.
Jan. 4, Answered a call to Highway 121 in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had kicked in the back door of residence, gained entry and took a GPS Tom Tom XL, valued at $200.00. Investigation continues.
Jan. 4, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a theft. A complainant stated someone had field stripped his air condition unit, and stolen wires to two pieces of equipment. Investigation continues.
Jan. 5, answered a call to Evans Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated a lawn tractor; two batteries and one big roll of wire were missing. The complainant stated the possible suspect maybe a family member. Investigation continues.
Jan. 5, answered a call to James Kent Road in reference to a criminal attempt. A complainant stated he saw two men run from his mobile home. Tin was found in the woods nearby the mobile home that was taken off of the mobile home.
Jan. 5, answered a call to Swain Break Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that unknown person(s) had broken the lock and cable on a gate to private property. Taken from the property was a deer stand that was cabled and locked to a tree. The value of the deer stand was $400.00.
