The following are highlights of incidents that were handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department over the past few weeks.
Dec. 22, at approximately 10:28 a.m., answered a call to an Ash Street address in reference to an unresponsive person. On arrival officers met with the EMT unit who told officers that they had received a call to an unresponsive person, and on arrival they discovered the resident, Gloria Jean Nash, 62, was deceased. The coroner’s office was contacted.
Dec. 24, at approx. 12:41, met with a complainant at the St. James A.M.E. Church in reference to a burglary. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had broke into several doors and rummaged through several offices and desks, removing an undetermined amount of change.
Dec. 24, at approx. 6:55 p.m., met with a complainant at the New Jersey Baptist Church in reference to a burglary. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had broke into the church and rummaged through several offices and desks and removed an undetermined amount of change.
Dec. 26, at approx. 11:10 a.m., met with a clerk at the Key West Inn in reference to a theft. On arrival the clerk told officers they were missing several items from one of their rooms. They discovered this when the guest was gone and they were going to clean the room. Reported missing was a brand new T.V., bed linens and pillowcases.
Dec. 26, at approx. 1:27 p.m., met with a complainant at the Georgia Power Company in reference to a criminal damage to property incident. On arrival the complainant told the officers he was going to make a deposit, and discovered the night drop box was severely damaged. A key older for Georgia Power was contacted and officers secured the building until they arrived. The night deposit was checked and no entry had been made into it, just damage to the outside unit.
Dec. 26, at approx. 9:44 p.m., met with a complainant at the First African Baptist Church in reference to a burglary. On arrival the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had broke into the church and rummaged through several offices and desks. Nothing was reported missing at report time.
Dec. 27, at approx. 1:56 p.m., met with a resident at a Golden Isles East address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that he had been gone and when he returned home he discovered that person(s) unknown had broke in and removed his washing machine, dryer, T.V. and DVD player.
